TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employ fuzzy VIKOR and fuzzy TOPSIS methods to rank different renewable energy alternatives on the bases of different criteria such as installation cost, operations, and maintenance cost, area required, the importance of location, return on investment, payback period, and efficiency.
Abstract: These days, the excessive industrialization, elevated levels of pollution, and increased energy crisis have led nations towards the use of renewable energy sources. Moving towards renewable energy not only helps in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels but also aids in eliminating increased levels of pollution. Through the use of renewable energy sources, global warming can also be decreased which is currently the biggest environmental issue worldwide. This reduction in global warming will result in a guaranteed sustainable future. Renewable energy, despite being expensive, contributes to the national economy in the longer run. Moreover, renewable energy sources help in the elimination of load shedding, having a positive impact on quality of life. This research tends to acknowledge the significance of renewable energy by considering several factors. These include investment, operations and management costs, the capacity of energy production, and environmental impacts. This paper employs Fuzzy VIKOR and Fuzzy TOPSIS methods. It ranks different renewable energy alternatives on the bases of different criteria such as installation cost, operations, and maintenance cost, area required, the importance of location, return on investment, payback period, and efficiency. The outcomes of this research suggested that continued reliance on exhaustible sources of energy has negative impacts on environment, economy, and quality of life. Through this research, an energy policy will be formulated, which will not only lead us towards finding solutions to the above-stated problems but also ensure sustainable and viable future for generations to come.

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of copper addition has been studied to examine thermal, mechanical, magnetic and corrosion properties of the Fe43Co22Ni7B19Si5Nb4 bulk metallic glass alloy material.
Abstract: In this paper the role of copper addition has been studied to examine thermal, mechanical, magnetic and corrosion properties of the Fe43Co22Ni7B19Si5Nb4 bulk metallic glass alloy material. It is found that the copper addition in alloys exhibited low supercooled liquid region as compared to copper-free alloy. It is observed that microhardness was reduced in Cu-containing alloy with generation of shear bands along faces of micro indent impression while in Cu-free alloy straight and long microcracks appeared at the indent corners indicating its brittle behavior. The magnetic properties slightly decrease with Cu addition however the corrosion resistance of Cu-containing alloy showed superior properties indicating commercial benefits in aggressive environment.

TL;DR: In this article, a long length of Bi-2223 conductors doped with Ag, Nb and B were fabricated and the recrystallization of the glasses during various heat treatments was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and resistivity measurements.
Abstract: Long lengths of Bi-2223 conductors doped with Ag, Nb and B were fabricated. The recrystallization of the glasses during various heat treatments was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and resistivity measurements. Activation energies and frequency factors for crystallization were determined by non-isothermal DTA, employing different models. It was found that both the peritectic transition and the reaction rate were dependent on the ambient atmosphere. Kinetic studies under different atmospheres revealed that the thermal stability of Bi-2223 was greatly enhanced under an oxygen atmosphere. Jc measurements at 77 K showed an increase on silver addition. Furthermore it was found that the silver addition does not destroy the superconductivity. © 1998 Chapman & Hall

TL;DR: The proposed technique consists of using fuzzy logic as a mapping function to decide whether a pixel needs to be krigged or not and genetic programming is used to evolve an optimal pixel intensity-estimation function for restoring degraded images.
Abstract: We present an intelligent technique for image denoising problem of gray level images degraded with Gaussian white noise in spatial domain. The proposed technique consists of using fuzzy logic as a mapping function to decide whether a pixel needs to be krigged or not. Genetic programming is then used to evolve an optimal pixel intensity-estimation function for restoring degraded images. The proposed system has shown considerable improvement when compared both qualitatively and quantitatively with the adaptive Wiener filter, methods based on fuzzy kriging, and a fuzzy-based averaging technique. Experimental results conducted using an image database confirms that the proposed technique offers superior performance in terms of image quality measures. This also validates the use of hybrid techniques for image restoration. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Imaging Syst Technol, 17, 224–231, 2007
