Abstract: This paper compares the performance of several classifier algorithms on a standard database of handwritten digits. We consider not only raw accuracy, but also training time, recognition time, and memory requirements. When available, we report measurements of the fraction of patterns that must be rejected so that the remaining patterns have misclassification rates less than a given threshold.

TL;DR: In this article, a database processing system using a multi-processor including a plurality of processor modules each having a local memory connected to an external shared memory is described, and the system includes a composite structure definition control part for defining an administrative processor module for controlling an access to the composite structure of a database which has a storage structure independent of a logical structure.
Abstract: A database processing system using a multi-processor including a plurality of processor modules each having a local memory connected to an external shared memory. The database processing system includes a composite structure definition control part for defining an administrative processor module for controlling an access to a composite structure of a database which has a storage structure independent of a logical structure; and a maintenance/selection control part in an optimum control processor for providing a function of access-controlling a shared process and a local process when an access request arises for a database composite structure, and for dynamically switching the access control process for the composite structure according to the access frequency notified by each processor module. The system may further include an operation continuing control part for providing a controlling function for a recovery process for the composite structure of a database to be locally processed or shared-processed, and for performing a recovery process according to an access control process type for the composite structure of the database when the processor module falls in error, by replacing the erroneous processor module with another single processor module or a plurality of processor modules.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method of avoiding desensitization of the radio frequency receiver by detecting, at the receiver, a radio frequency interference that corresponds to an operating environment to provide an interference indication; determining, responsive to the interference indication, a corrective action for the receiver; and executing the corrective action.
Abstract: A subscriber terminal (104) suitable for operation in a wireless communications system (100) arranged and constructed to provide data communications between the infrastructure (111) and the subscriber terminal, includes a portable computing device (105) operating in a operating state and a radio frequency receiver (201) operatively coupled to the portable computing device, the radio frequency receiver arranged to detect a radio frequency interference corresponding to an operating environment, and to execute a corrective action that corresponds to the radio frequency interference. A corresponding method of avoiding desensitization of the radio frequency receiver includes detecting, at the RF receiver, a radio frequency interference that corresponds to an operating environment to provide an interference indication; determining, responsive to the interference indication, a corrective action for the RF receiver; and executing the corrective action for the RF receiver.

TL;DR: In this article, a mobile radiotelephone and associated method, which facilitates usage thereof by a user while also operating an automotive vehicle, is presented, which includes a handset having actuation keys of unique geometries permitting the user to identify the keys by tactile rather than visual inspection.
Abstract: A mobile radiotelephone, and associated method, which facilitates usage thereof by a user while also operating an automotive vehicle. The radiotelephone includes a handset having actuation keys of unique geometries permitting the user to identify the keys by tactile rather than visual inspection. A visual-signal display assembly comprised of a heads-up display, including a screen element positionable at a front windshield assembly portion of an automotive vehicle, forms an output display of the radiotelephone, also to facilitate usage of the radiotelephone by a user while also operating the automotive vehicle.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for detecting unauthorized use of a communication unit in a secure wireless communication system includes receiving, by a central controller, a service request from the communication unit via the WSN, and determining whether the service request is requesting an unencrypted communication resource or an encrypted communication resource.
Abstract: A method for detecting unauthorized use of a communication unit in a secure wireless communication system includes receiving, by a central controller, a service request from the communication unit via the wireless communication system. The central controller determines whether the service request is requesting an unencrypted communication resource or an encrypted communication resource. When the service request is requesting an unencrypted communication resource, the central controller determines whether the service request substantially matches a historical utilization pattern. When the service request does not substantially match the historical utilization pattern, the central controller indicates that the communication unit is a potential unauthorized communication unit.

TL;DR: In this article, a line controller (115) for controlling a manufacturing process comprises a data entry device (225) for receiving product identification information and determining circuitry (310, 315) coupled to the data entry devices (225), for determining whether the identification information is indicative of a first product or a second product.
Abstract: A line controller (115) for controlling a manufacturing process comprises a data entry device (225) for receiving product identification information and determining circuitry (310, 315) coupled to the data entry device (225) for receiving the product identification information and determining whether the product identification information is indicative of a first product or a second product. A control unit (320) coupled to the determining circuitry (310, 315) automatically generates, in response to the determining circuitry (310, 315) determining that the product identification information is indicative of the second product, a request for information relevant to the processing of the second product. The line controller (115) further comprises a data port (330) coupled to the control unit (320) for transmitting the request and for receiving in response thereto the information.

TL;DR: In this article, a MOSFET-based amplifier for a radiotelephone was proposed, which uses transistors (401,403) in a current mirror configuration.
Abstract: The amplifier (201) uses transistors (401,403) such as MOSFET transistors in a current mirror configuration. The transistors (401,403) are easy to package as surface mount devices. The drain port of the first transistor is coupled to an output signal (207) and a bias input signal (VB+). A gate port of the first transistor is coupled to a bias control input (117) and the signal input (115). The source of the first transistor and the source of the second transistor are coupled to an electrical ground (409). A first end of a resistive device (411) is coupled to the gate port and the drain port of the second transistor and a second end of the resistive device (411) is coupled the signal input (115) and the bias control input (117). This amplifier (201) has low sensitivity to the variations of the bias current to the control signal threshold, making the amplifier ideal for use in a radiotelephone (103).
