TL;DR: Two species of aquatic oligochaetes, Aeolosoma hyalinum Bunke, 1967 and Dero obtusa D'Udekem, 1855 are new records for the Indian sub-continent.
Abstract: The paper records the presence of sixteen species of aquatic oligochaetes, belonging to the Aeolosomatidae (1 species). Naididae (13 species) and Tubificidae (2 species), living in association with the floating roots of the water hyacinth, Eichhornia crassipes Solms., from a tank in Vizianagaram town in Andhra Pradesh, India. Of these, Aeolosoma hyalinum Bunke, 1967 and Dero obtusa D'Udekem, 1855 are new records for the Indian sub-continent.

TL;DR: Theorem 3.2.2 as discussed by the authors is a representation theorem for the strictly continuous linear functional on the subspace C(X, E) which consists of functions / in C(x, E), such that /(X) is totally bounded.
Abstract: Let X be a topological space, E a real or complex topological vector space, and C(X, E) the vector space of all bounded continuous E-valued functions on X; when E is the real or complex field this space will be denoted by C(X). The notion of the strict topology on C(X, E) was first introduced by Buck (1) in 1958 in the case of X locally compact and E a locally convex space. In recent years a large number of papers have appeared in the literature concerned with extending the results contained in Buck's paper. In particular, a number of these have considered the problem of characterising the strictly continuous linear functional on C(X, E); see, for example, (2), (3), (4) and (8). In this paper we suppose that X is a completely regular Hausdorff space and that E is a Hausdorff topological vector space with a non-trivial dual E'. The main result established is Theorem 3.2, where we prove a representation theorem for the strictly continuous linear functional on the subspace C^X, E) which consists of those functions / in C(X, E) such that /(X) is totally bounded. Throughout, we use the notation and terminology introduced in (5).

TL;DR: In this article, a multistage production process with alternate inspection plans is considered and a mathematical model is developed to determine at each stage that out of the available inspection plans (including the case of no inspection) which one will result in minimum s-expected total cost per item.
Abstract: This paper considers a multistage production process with alternate inspection plans. At each stage a number of alternate inspection plans with different cost and reliabilities may be available. Since more reliable inspections are more costly it is essential to find out a compromise between the reliability and cost. A mathematical model is developed. Dynamic programming is used to determine at each stage that out of the available inspection plans (including the case of no inspection) which one will result in minimum s-expected total cost per item.

TL;DR: Alkaline and acid phosphatase activities in the skin of Mystus vittatus are localized by using histochemical techniques and these activities have been correlated with some physiological functions of the epidermis.
Abstract: An attempt has been made to localize alkaline and acid phosphatase activities in the skin ofMystus vittatus by using histochemical techniques. The alkaline phosphatase activity is found in metabolically active cells such as basal columnar cells, mucous cells and polygonal support cells. The acid phosphatase activity is intense in the outermost squamous support cells and in the basal columnar cells. These activities have been correlated with some physiological functions of the epidermis.

TL;DR: The epidermis of Mystus (Mystus) vittatus contains two well differentiated mucous cells which secrete different mucosubstances which are discussed in relation to their physiological activities.
Abstract: The epidermis of Mystus (Mystus) vittatus contains two well differentiated mucous cells which secrete different mucosubstances. The goblet cells contain periodate reactive neutral mucosubstances, glycogen, testicular hyaluronidase resistant sulphated mucosubstances, and sialic acid rich glycoproteins. The clavate cells contain small amounts of neutral and sulphated mucosubstances and no glycoproteins. The difference in the histochemical nature of the two types of mucous cells is discussed in relation to their physiological activities.

TL;DR: In this paper, equilibrium studies on mixed ligand complexes of some bivalent metal ions have been made using the Irving-Rossotti pH titration method in 50% aqueous-dioxane medium at 35 ± 0.5° C and 0.1 M ionic strength in an inert atmosphere.
Abstract: Equilibrium studies on mixed ligand complexes of some bivalent metal ions, viz., Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), or Ni(II) with 2,2′-bipyridyl (Bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen) as primary ligand and N-methylaminothioformyl-N′-phenylhydroxylamine (MATPH) as secondary ligand have been made using the Irving-Rossotti pH titration method in 50% aqueous-dioxane medium at 35 ± 0.5° C and 0.1 M (NaClO4) ionic strength in an inert atmosphere. Formation constants, characteristic of mixed ligand complexes, have been calculated in the system M + A → MA; MA + L → MAL where M = Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), or Ni(II); A = 2,2′-bipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline, L = N-methylaminothioformyl-N′-phenyl-hydroxylamine. In all the systems, the Δ log KM values are negative which is due to the discriminating qualities of the heteroaromatic N-base. It is suggested that the S-ligand may also have π -accepting qualities with a greater influence on the stability of the complexes, Further results indicate that MATPH and ...
