TL;DR: Impairments induced by sublethal doses of two pesticides Carbaryl and Endosulfan have been studied on the ovaries of a freshwater teleost Channa striatus by exposing the fish for a period of 2 to 30 days during the spawning season.

TL;DR: In this paper, the integrated theory derived for the lattice-type dispersions is modified and extended to estimate the effective thermal conductivity of loose and granular two-phase materials at normal pressure assuming an effective continuous media approximation.
Abstract: The integrated theory derived for the lattice-type dispersions is modified and extended to estimate the effective thermal conductivity of loose and granular two-phase materials at normal pressure assuming an effective continuous media approximation. A comparison of calculated values ofλ e with the reported experimental results over a wide range of loose and granular two-phase materials shows a good agreement.

TL;DR: The results are suggestive of the presence, in the cerebral ganglia, of a hypoglycaemic factor similar to insulin.
Abstract: Blood sugars and foot muscle glycogen were measured in the mussel,L. marginalis after ablation of the cerebral ganglia, and in mussels injected with cerebral ganglionic extract 3 h after ablation. There is a rise in the blood sugar and decrease in foot muscle glycogen 3 h after operation, but no change in sham-operated controls. The effect of ablation is reversed by injecting brain extract into ablated mussels. No such effect could be seen in the controls. The results are suggestive of the presence, in the cerebral ganglia, of a hypoglycaemic factor similar to insulin.

TL;DR: In this article, new chelates of lanthanon with N-thioacetyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine have been prepared and the available data and physical properties indicate the attachment of each rare earth ion to three molecules of ligand and four molecules of water.
Abstract: New chelates of lanthanon with N-thioacetyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine have been prepared. The available data and physical properties of the chelates indicate the attachment of each rare earth ion to three molecules of ligand and four molecules of water. This is supported by elemental analysis and UV and IR absorption spectra.

TL;DR: The linear thermal expansion of amorphous arsenic (a-As) has been measured in the temperature range 4-293 K, using a three-terminal capacitance dilatometer of recent design and construction as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The linear thermal expansion of amorphous arsenic (a-As) has been measured in the temperature range 4–293 K, using a three-terminal capacitance dilatometer of recent design and construction. The linear thermal expansion measured is generally of the form predicted by a simple Debye model, with a room-temperature value of 1·06 × 10−5 K−1. This value is consistent with the room-temperature value of the coefficient of volume expansion of 3·1 × 10−5 K−1 used by previous authors, who obtained this value by extrapolation of early, limited low-temperature data. At low temperatures (4–20 K), the thermal expansion deviates from a T 3 law in a similar manner to the reported behaviour of the low-temperature specific heat of a-As. The Gruneisen coefficient in this temperature range has been calculated to vary between 1 and 1·95.
