TL;DR: An overview of E-waste treatment technologies including sanitary landfill and recycling of precious metals, nonmetal elements, plastics, and glasses is presented in this paper, where the authors present an overview of the current state of the art.
Abstract: Electronic waste (E-waste) has been stated as one of the most rapidly growing waste streams in the world. It consists of a wide range of elements and compounds including both valuable and hazardous materials. E-waste can contaminate the environment and threaten human health through its improper recycling and disposal methods. Moreover, E-waste represents a significant potential source of valuable materials to make the recycling of this waste economically fascinating. This chapter presents an overview of E-waste treatment technologies including sanitary landfill and recycling of precious metals, nonmetal elements, plastics, and glasses. The recycling of E-waste has become a significant issue because of the strange growth in the production of E-waste and increased awareness among people regarding environmental protection. Consequently, the primitive treatment technologies cannot reach the future obligations of industry because of the potential risk of environmental contamination, high cost, and low efficiency. An effective utilization of the reusable resources is therefore a prerequisite for developing new technologies to treat E-waste.

TL;DR: In this paper, the fusion cross section, evaporation residue cross secion, compound nucleus formation probability and survival probability of different projectile target combinations to synthesize the superheavy element Z = 124 were studied.
Abstract: We have studied the fusion cross section, evaporation residue cross secion, compound nucleus formation probability (
$P_{CN}$
) and survival probability (
$P_{sur}$
) of different projectile target combinations to synthesize the superheavy element Z=124. Hence, we have identified the most probable projectile-target combination to synthesize the superheavy element Z = 124 . To synthesize the superheavy element Z=124, the most probable projectile target combinations are Kr+Ra, Ni+Cm, Se+Th, Ge+U and Zn+Pu. We hope that our predictions may be a guide for the future experiments in the synthesis of superheavy nuclei Z=124.

TL;DR: In this paper, a coplanar waveguide fed regular hexagonal antenna for UWB is presented, which is modified to obtain band rejection for the wireless local area network of 5.15-5.16 GHz by incorporating U-shape slots within the hexagonal patch.
Abstract: This article presents a coplanar waveguide fed regular hexagonal antenna for ultra wide bandwidth (UWB). Then this antenna is modified to obtain band rejection for the wireless local area network of 5.15---5.825 GHz (IEEE 802.11a) and wireless microwave access of 3.3---3.7 GHz (IEEE 802.16) by incorporating U-shape slots within the hexagonal patch. Notch bands can easily be controlled by few geometry parameters of the U-slots. Return loss, impedance, gain and radiation characteristics of them are studied and discussed here. From the results, it has been observed that the antenna significantly satisfies the Federal Communication Commission's UWB frequency (3.1---10.6 GHz) range while showing the band rejection performance in the frequency bands of 3.3---3.7 and 5.12---5.9 GHz. The antenna gain varies from 2.6 to 6.4 dB over the whole operating band excluding the notch bands. Surface current distributions and transmission line model are used to analyze the effects of the slots. Measured group delay has very small variation within the operating band except notch bands and hence the proposed antenna may be suitable for UWB applications.

TL;DR: In view of the immense medicinal importance of antioxidants, an effort has been made in this paper to bring together information about the role of nutrition and antioxidants such as carotenoids, vitamins, some important minerals in combating free radical generation and in general, boosting normal immune mechanisms.
Abstract: Human body is known to experience positive stress that keeps it vigilant and protects it from biological and physical threats. This stress turns negative when a person is confronted with continuous challenges. Also, stress and nutrition have always run in synergism with each other. Nutritional value of a person's diet depends on the overall mixture or balance of food that is eaten over a period of time, as well as on the needs of the individual. The body relies on obtaining its anti-oxidants from food and other supplements. These nutritional requirements of antioxidants are enormously altered in diseased conditions. In view of the immense medicinal importance of antioxidants, an effort has been made in this article to bring together information about the role of nutrition and antioxidants such as carotenoids, vitamins, some important minerals in combating free radical generation and in general, boosting normal immune mechanisms. The present review is an attempt to generate interest in the scientific fraternity of their immense potential in preventing and treating several common diseases. Keywords: Antioxidants, Free radicals, Balanced diet, Nutrition, Oxidative stress, Vitamins.
