Abstract: Medical services inevitably generate healthcare waste (HCW) that may become hazardous to healthcare staffs, patients, the population, and the atmosphere. In most of the developing countries, HCW disposal management has become one of the fastest-growing challenges for urban municipalities and healthcare providers. Determining the location for HCW disposal centers is a relatively complex process due to the involvement of various alternatives, criteria, and strict government guidelines about the disposal of HCW. The objective of the paper is to introduce the WASPAS (weighted aggregated sum product assessment) method with Fermatean fuzzy sets (FFSs) for the HCW disposal location selection problem. This method combines the score function, entropy measure, and classical WASPAS approach within FFSs context. Next, a combined procedure using entropy and score function is proposed to estimate the criteria weights. To do this, a novel score function with its desirable properties and some entropy measures are introduced under the FFSs context. Further, an illustrative case study of the HCW disposal location selection problem on FFSs is established, which evidences the practicality and efficacy of the developed approach. Comparative discussion and sensitivity analysis are made to monitor the permanence of the introduced framework. The final results approve that the proposed methodology can effectively handle the ambiguity and inaccuracy in the decision-making procedure of HCW disposal location selection.

Abstract: The speed of sound u in and densities ρ of eight binary mixtures of p-dioxane (p-C4H8O2) with methylcyclohexane (c-C6H11CH3), 1-chlorohexane (C6H13C1), 1-bromohexane (C6H13Br), p-xylene [C6H4(CH3)2], propylbenzene (C6H5C3H7), methyl acetate CH3COOCH3), butyl acetate (CH3COOC4H9), and amyl acetate (CH3COOC5H11) were measured over the whole composition range at 30°C. Isentropic compressibilities (K S), Rao's molar sound functions (R), excess molar volumes (V E), excess isentropic compressibilities (K S E ) together with relative change in volume ΔV/φ1φ2 values, have been obtained for all measured mole fractions. The excess partial molar volume (V1-V 1 0 ) of p-dioxane in different solvents have also been estimated. The experimental results have been analyzed in terms of the Prigogine–Flory–Patterson theory of solutions.

Abstract: Anisotropic dark energy cosmological models are constructed in the frame work of generalised Brans–Dicke theory with a self-interacting potential. A unified dark fluid characterised by a linear equation of state is considered as the source of dark energy. The shear scalar is considered to be proportional to the expansion scalar simulating an anisotropic relationship among the directional expansion rates. The dynamics of the universe in the presence of a unified dark fluid in anisotropic background have been discussed. The presence of an evolving scalar field makes it possible to get an accelerating phase of expansion even for a linear relationship among the directional Hubble rates. It is found that the anisotropy in expansion rates does not affect the scalar field, the self-interacting potential, but it controls the non-evolving part of the Brans–Dicke parameter.

Abstract: This paper presents the distribution of radon activity concentration in drinking water samples and their annual effective dose exposure in Shimoga district. The radon concentrations in 38 drinking water samples were measured by using Emanometry technique. The measured radon concentration in drinking water samples ranged between 3.10 ± 0.25 and 38.50 ± 1.54 Bq l−1 with an average value of 13.60 ± 1.12 Bq l−1. This study reveals that 44.8 % drinking water samples analyzed have radon levels in excess of the EPA recommended maximum contamination level of 11.1 Bq l−1. The total mean annual effective doses of all the samples are significantly lower than the reference level of 0.1 mSv y−1.
