TL;DR: The contribution of 3D echocardiography in the diagnosis of MV disease, its role in selecting and monitoring surgical procedures, and in the assessment of surgical outcomes are covered.
Abstract: Three-dimensional echocardiography has markedly improved our understanding of normal and pathologic mitral valve (MV) mechanics. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of three-dimensional (3D) data on the mitral valve could have a clinical impact on diagnosis, patient referral, surgical strategies, annuloplasty ring design and evaluation of the immediate and long-term surgical outcome. This review covers the contribution of 3D echocardiography in the diagnosis of MV disease, its role in selecting and monitoring surgical procedures, and in the assessment of surgical outcomes. Moreover, advantages of this technique versus the standard 2D modality, as well as future applications of advanced analysis techniques, will be reviewed.

TL;DR: The relationship between mineral intake and bone mineral density in middle-aged and older people with pre-oral and osteo-sono assessment index (OSI) is unclear.
Abstract: The relationship between oral frailty (OF) and bone mineral density is unclear. This cross-sectional study analyzed the relationship between mineral intake and bone mineral density in middle-aged and older people with pre-oral and OF. The participants, which included 240 people aged 40 years and older, completed the three oral questions on the Kihon Checklist (KCL), which is a self-reported comprehensive health checklist, the brief-type self-administered diet history questionnaire (BDHQ), and the osteo-sono assessment index (OSI). A two-way analysis of covariance on oral function and OSI indicated that the intake of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, squid/octopus/shrimp/shellfish, carrots/pumpkins, and mushroom was significantly lower in the OF and low-OSI groups than in the non-OF and high-OSI groups. A multiple logistic regression analysis for OF showed that potassium, magnesium, phosphorous and carrots/pumpkins were significantly associated with OF in the low-OSI group but not in the high-OSI group. These results demonstrated that the decrease in mineral intake due to OF was associated with decreased bone mineral density, suggesting that the maintenance of oral function prevents a decrease in bone mineral density.

TL;DR: Dermal graft can be performed in one or two stage hypospadias repair using dermal grafts, and seven patients who underwent a one-stage repair had good results with a straight penis and no evidence of urethral fistula or urethrals stenosis.
Abstract: Purpose Severe chordee with hypospadias may require repair by ventral corporoplasty with a free graft before urethroplasty. We report an 11 year experience with one-stage and two-stage hypospadias repair using dermal grafts.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new N-sulfonamide ligand, N-(5-(4-methylphenyl)-[1,3,4]-thiadiazole-2-yl)toluenes sulfonamide (HL) and its Cu(II) complex [Cu(L) 2(Py)2(H2O)] (I), have been synthesized.
Abstract: A new N-sulfonamide ligand, N-(5-(4-methylphenyl)-[1,3,4]-thiadiazole-2-yl)toluenesulfonamide (HL) and its Cu(II) complex [Cu(L)2(Py)2(H2O)] (I), have been synthesized. The X-ray crystal structure of the ligand and of complex I have been determined (CIF files CCDC nos. 975153 (HL), 851790 (I)). In I, the Cu2+ ion is five-coordinated, forming a CuN4O chromophore. The ligand acts as monodentate, coordinating the metal ion through a single Nthiadiazole atom. The molecules from the reaction medium (pyridine and water) are also involved in the coordination of the Cu2+ ion. Complex I has a slightly distorted square pyramidal geometry. The complex was characterized by FT-IR, electronic, EPR spectroscopic and magnetic methods. The nuclease activity studies of the synthesized complex confirm his capacity to cleavage the DNA molecule. The ligand has two important roles in the nuclease activity of I: it influence the reactivity of the Cu2+ ion and interact with DNA molecule. The complex interacts with the DNA molecule. Immediately, the Cu2+ ion is reduced to Cu(I), and in the presence of molecular oxygen the formed Cu(I) complex produces reactive oxygen species in close proximity to the double helix.

TL;DR: In this article, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 951 stable stroke patients in Vietnam from December 2019 to December 2020, and linear regression models were used to analyze the associations and interactions.
Abstract: Background: Comorbidity is common and causes poor stroke outcomes. We aimed to examine the modifying impacts of physical activity (PA) and diet quality on the association between comorbidity and disability in stroke patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 951 stable stroke patients in Vietnam from December 2019 to December 2020. The survey questionnaires were administered to assess patients’ characteristics, clinical parameters (e.g., Charlson Comorbidity Index items), health-related behaviors (e.g., PA using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire- short version), health literacy, diet quality (using the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Quality (DASH-Q) questionnaire), and disability (using the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule II (WHODAS II)). Linear regression models were used to analyze the associations and interactions. Results: The proportion of comorbidity was 49.9% (475/951). The scores of DASH-Q and WHODAS II were 29.2 ± 11.8, 32.3 ± 13.5, respectively. Patients with comorbidity had a higher score of disability (regression coefficient, B, 8.24; 95% confidence interval, 95%CI, 6.66, 9.83; p < 0.001) as compared with those without comorbidity. Patients with comorbidity and higher tertiles of PA (B, −4.65 to −5.48; p < 0.05), and a higher DASH-Q score (B, −0.32; p < 0.001) had a lower disability score, as compared with those without comorbidity and the lowest tertile of PA, and the lowest score of DASH-Q, respectively. Conclusions: Physical activity and diet quality significantly modified the negative impact of comorbidity on disability in stroke patients. Strategic approaches are required to promote physical activity and healthy diet which further improve stroke rehabilitation outcomes.
