TL;DR: A case of NMO associated with paroxysmal painful dystonia is presented and a review of the literature is reviewed to review the presence of these complications in NMO.
Abstract: Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that preferentially affects the optic nerves and spinal cord, and is characterised by the presence of autoantibody to aquaporin-4 (AQP4) [1–4]. Movement disorders have been described in demyelinating diseases, mainly in multiple sclerosis (MS). The presence of these complications in NMO is documented only in case presentations and small case series. The most frequent movement disorders in demyelinating diseases are paroxysmal dystonias (PD), also called tonic spasms (TS) [4]. The original description by Matthews WB was of ‘‘tonic seizures’’ [5]. Our objective is to present a case of NMO associated with paroxysmal painful dystonia and to review the literature. Case report

TL;DR: A lifelong topic modeling method which focuses on learning bias on the domain level based on a proposed domain closeness measure, and an application framework for multi-label classification on Vietnamese texts, which is better than AMC method for all cases.
Abstract: Lifelong machine learning is emerging in recent years thanks to its ability to use past knowledge for current problem. Lifelong topic modeling algorithms, such as LTM and AMC, are proposed and they are very useful. However, these algorithms focus on learning bias on the topic level not the domain level. This paper proposes a lifelong topic modeling method, which focuses on learning bias on the domain level based on a proposed domain closeness measure, and an application framework for multi-label classification on Vietnamese texts. Experimental results on three previously solved Vietnamese texts, and five different current Vietnamese text datasets in combination with different topic set sizes showed that our proposed method is better than AMC method for all cases.

11 Jun 2000TL;DR: It is shown that the convergence rate of a convection parameter in an elliptic equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions is O(??), where ? is a norm bound for the noise in the data.
Abstract: In this paper we establish a convergence rate result for a parameter identification problem. We show that the convergence rate of a convection parameter in an elliptic equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions is O(??), where ? is a norm bound for the noise in the data.

TL;DR: Evidence is given of the presence of antibodies which cross-reacted with platelets, and endothelial cells in the sera of Vietnamese infants and children with DHF/DSS and the levels of these autoantibodies were not correlated with the severity of DHF.
Abstract: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a serious public health problem. Increased vascular permeability and thrombocytopenia are the hallmarks of DHF. The mechanisms involved in DHF/Dengue shock syndrome (DSS) pathogenesis is not fully understood. This study gives evidence of the presence of antibodies which cross-reacted with platelets, and endothelial cells in the sera of Vietnamese infants and children with DHF/DSS. The anti-platelet, anti-endothelial cell IgM levels were higher in the sera of DHF/DSS infants and children, compared with controls. However, the levels of these autoantibodies were not correlated with the severity of DHF (non-shock DHF vs DSS). The antiplatelet, and anti-endothelial cell autoantibodies may play a role in the pathogenesis of DHF/DSS in infants and children with predominantly primary, and secondary dengue infections, respectively. The epitopes shared by surface molecules of platelets and endothelial cells and dengue virus antigens need to be identified and avoided in designing the safe candidate vaccines.
