01 Jan 2011TL;DR: This paper proposes a database external level architecture based mostly on server side views, supported by client side views and a minimal number of server side stored procedures.
Abstract: Healthcare Information Systems rely very often on complex database structures and require complex processing of the data in order to offer relevant information to the user. In an attempt to extend the benefits deriving from the structural approach present at the internal level of such a database to its external level, this paper proposes a database external level architecture based mostly on server side views, supported by client side views and a minimal number of server side stored procedures.

01 Jan 1996TL;DR: The effects of magnesium, calcium and lithium on the lesions produced by intravenous administration of PAF in rats were investigated and it is shown that these effects are related to ulceration and hemorrhages.
Abstract: The Platelet Activating Factor (PAF) is a lipidic autacoid having the structure 1-O-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glyceryl-3′-phosphorylcholine and is widely spread in a great variety of human and animal tissues (1–3). Numerous physiological and pathological involvements of PAF are known. Several authors (1,4–6) have shown that PAF produces ulceration and hemorrhages in the digestive tract. The ulcerogenic effect of PAF was observed after intravenous or topical administration at the gastric mucosa level. The mechanisms through which PAF exerts its lesional activity at the level of gastric mucosa are very complex and not completely identified. Among mechanisms proposed to explain the ulcerogenic effects of PAF are: damages of microcirculation of gastric mucosa (7), increase of free radical production (8), increase of acid secretion, formation of platelets microaggregates, increase of aggregation of neutrophils and release of lysosomal enzymes (9). In this paper, the effects of magnesium, calcium and lithium on the lesions produced by intravenous administration of PAF in rats were investigated.

TL;DR: In this paper, translucence parameters for three series of experimental hybrid composites were investigated using three-chromatic coordinates such as L* a* b* CHROMA technique using a type C illuminant geometry with the scope of 8o.
Abstract: Translucence parameters for 3 series of experimental hybrid composites were investigated using three-chromatic coordinates such as L* a* b* CHROMA technique using a type C illuminant geometry with the scope of 8o. The materials of each series contain in the same ratio different copolymers and a filler mixture (simple and mixed hydroxyapatite-ZrO2 or SiO2 powders and glass powders with barium oxide, respective strontium oxide, or quartz powder). The purpose was to determine the effect of filler composition of composites on translucence. The analysis shows that these materials have more or less translucence. CHROMA determinations indicate that for the composite that has as filler quartz microparticles anh hydroxyapatite nanoparticles, the translucence registered is higher. Results leading to the idea that chemical composition and the size of inorganic phase are important to obtain translucent composite materials that have very natural in appearance. Keywords: translucence, hybrid composites, CHROMA method.

01 Feb 2012TL;DR: The prevalence of chronic respiratory failure (CRF) is currently increasing, due to the fact that CRF is the remote consequence of smoking exposure even in ex-smokers, and also to thefact that there is a progressive increase in average life expectancy in western countries.
Abstract: The prevalence of chronic respiratory failure (CRF) is currently increasing. This is due to the fact that CRF is the remote consequence of smoking exposure even in ex-smokers, and also to the fact that there is a progressive increase in average life expectancy in western countries. CRF impacts negatively on the functioning of the lungs as well as on other organs, and such negative influences can be measured objectively with various diagnostic tests or subjectively, from the patient’s overall point of view, by quality of life assessment.
