TL;DR: Experimental results in several real-tracking scenarios demonstrate that the PSO algorithm surpasses the standard particle filter on both robustness and accuracy.
Abstract: Particle filter is a powerful tool for vision tracking based on Sequential Monte Carlo framework. The core of particle filter in vision tracking is how to allocate particles to a high posterior area. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is applied to find high likelihood area in this paper. PSO algorithm can search the sample area around the last time object position depending on current observation. So, it can distribute the particles in high likelihood area even though the dynamic model of the object cannot be obtained. Our algorithm does not distribute the particles based on the weight of the particles last time like the sampling-importance resampling (SIR). SIR usually allures particles distributed in wrong likelihood area particularly tracking in cluttered scene. Since that some particles have larger weight maybe illusive. We first find the sample area by PSO algorithm, then we distribute the particles based on two different base points in order to achieve diversity and convergence. Experimental results in several real-tracking scenarios demonstrate that our algorithm surpasses the standard particle filter on both robustness and accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors apply a panel threshold regression model to explore the impact of the regional technological innovation level on regional sustainable development using the regional economic development level as the threshold variable and panel data from 31 Chinese provinces from 2009 to 2015.
Abstract: This paper applies a panel threshold regression model to explore the impact of the regional technological innovation level on regional sustainable development using the regional economic development level as the threshold variable and panel data from 31 Chinese provinces from 2009 to 2015. The empirical research results show a significant double threshold effect of the regional technological innovation level on regional sustainable development. Positive interrelationships are observed between the regional technological innovation level and regional sustainable development when the regional economic development level does not exceed 0.301. The regional technological innovation level plays a significant role in promoting regional sustainable development when the former is between 0.301 and 0.438, but regional innovation otherwise has a minimal promotional effect. This research enriches the scholarship on regional innovation and lays a theoretical foundation that governments can use in policy development.

TL;DR: This one-step prepared method of PVA-PA hydrogel may open an innovative avenue for the fabrication of easy-molding and functional hydrogels with only two components under a mild ambient.
Abstract: Conductive hydrogels have shown great potential applications in a wide variety of fields, including artificial intelligence devices and biomedical engineering. However, it still remains a great challenge to develop a facile and cost-effective approach to achieve a conductive hydrogel with favorable qualities. Herein, we have changed the traditional ingredient of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel by the addition of phytic acid (PA), which could yield a conductive hydrogel through one freeze-thaw cycle. The PVA-PA hydrogel holds several virtues including a large stretchability (about 1100% strain), excellent conductivity (1.34 kΩ cm), and high optical transparence (about 95%). By assembling the PVA-PA hydrogel into a wearable strain sensor, the gel-based sensor has shown good performance for the real-time monitoring of human daily activities and health conditions. Moreover, one formula of the PVA-PA sol ink could rapidly convert to the gel state just by being injected on a flexible substrate under an ice-bath, which would satisfy the demand of casual writing circuits. This one-step preparation method of the PVA-PA hydrogel may open an innovative avenue for the fabrication of easy-molding and functional hydrogels with only two components under mild ambient conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the free in-plane vibration analysis of orthotropic rectangular plates with non-uniform boundary conditions and internal line supports is performed with a modified Fourier solution, in which both two inplane displacements are represented by a double Fourier cosine series and four supplementary functions are introduced to remove the potential discontinuities associated with the original displacement functions along the edges when they are viewed as periodic functions defined over the entire x-y plane.
Abstract: In this investigation, the free in-plane vibration analysis of orthotropic rectangular plates with non-uniform boundary conditions and internal line supports is performed with a modified Fourier solution. The exact solution for the problem is obtained using improved Fourier series method, in which both two in-plane displacements of the orthotropic rectangular plates are represented by a double Fourier cosine series and four supplementary functions, in the form of the product of a polynomial function and a single cosine series expansion, introduced to remove the potential discontinuities associated with the original displacement functions along the edges when they are viewed as periodic functions defined over the entire x–y plane. The unknown expansion coefficients are treated as the generalized coordinates and determined using the Rayleigh–Ritz procedure. The change of the boundary conditions can be easily achieved by only varying the stiffness of the two sets of the boundary springs at the all boundary of the orthotropic rectangular plates without the need of making any change to the solutions. The excellent accuracy of the current result is validated by comparison with those obtained from other analytical approach as well as the finite element method (FEM). Numerical results are presented to illustrate the current method that is applied not only to the homogeneous boundary conditions but also to other interesting and practically important boundary restraints on free in-plane vibrations of the orthotropic rectangular plates, including varying stiffness of boundary springs, point supported, partially supported boundary conditions and internal line supports. In addition to this, the effects of locations of line supports are also investigated and reported. New results for free vibration of moderately orthotropic rectangular plates with various edge conditions and internal line supports are presented, which may be used for benchmarking of researchers in the field.
