TL;DR: The phase comparison pulse echo method with two reflectors has been used to determine the velocity of sound in benzene and cyclohexane in the temperature range from 283-323 K and up to the freezing pressures of the liquids, the maximum pressures being 170 and 80 MPa respectively as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: The phase comparison pulse echo method with two reflectors has been used to determine the velocity of sound in benzene and cyclohexane in the temperature range from 283–323 K and up to the freezing pressures of the liquids, the maximum pressures being 170 and 80 MPa respectively. The density, the isothermal compressibility, the isobaric thermal expansion and the specific heat at constant pressure of both liquids have been evaluated from the measured sound velocity, using a computational method similar to that of Davis and Gordon. The calculated densities for both liquids agree well with those found in the literature.

TL;DR: In this article, the three dimensional finite element analysis of eddy current problems using the complex magnetic vector potential is applied to a practical three phase power transformer and the eddy currents in the oil tank and other steel structure parts and the magnetic flux densities in the whole transformer are computed.
Abstract: The three dimensional finite element analysis of eddy current problems using the complex magnetic vector potential is applied to a practical three phase power transformer. The eddy current densities in the oil tank and other steel structure parts and the magnetic flux densities in the whole transformer are computed. Several methods to reduce the amount of computation are presented. The eddy current losses in steel materials are computed by combining numerical method with analytical. The computed results are in substantial agreement with the corresponding experimental values.

TL;DR: In this article, three groups of the annular turbine cascades with diameter-blade height ratios d/1 = 1.9, 3, and 5 respectively were tested, each group includes five types of cascades equipped with different kinds of leaned blades.
Abstract: Three groups of the annular turbine cascades with diameter-blade height ratios d/1 = 1.9, 3, and 5 respectively are tested. Each group includes five types of cascades equipped with different kinds of leaned blades. For each type of the cascades, the distributions of total pressure, static pressure and exit flow angle along the pitch and the blade height are surveyed in detail. The experimental results show that the smaller the diameter-blade height ratio of the cascade, the more effective application of positively leaned blade to reduce the secondary flow loss, when the inner and outer walls of the cascade are cylindrical. Under this condition the effect of the blade leaning on the energy loss distribution along the blade height is notable. There is an optimal lean angle corresponding to the minimum of the overall energy loss in each cascade with leaned blades. The function-relation between the optimal lean angle and the diameter-blade height ratio is monotonic.Copyright © 1987 by ASME

TL;DR: In this paper, a new digital image texture analysis method, i.e., gray level and energy co-occurrence image texture analyzer, is presented, which is based on 3 X 3 no-zero-sum mask model and gray level-difference cooccurrence matrix model.
Abstract: In this paper, a new digital image texture analysis method, i.e., gray level and energy cooccurrence image texture analysis method, is presented. According to the method, the two image texture analysis models are designed. They are 3 X 3 no-zero-sum mask model and gray level-difference cooccurrence matrix model. And their texture parameters are calculated by using these models, separately. The satisfactory test results are acquired for classifying the sensing images.

TL;DR: These features show that the TDM not only improves the system performance, increases the parallelism and the data processing power, but also eliminates the performance bottlenecks in relational database systems.
Abstract: This paper proposes a Tree-structured Database Machine (TDM), which is designed for supporting large relational database systems. The TDM aims at totally improving three level performance bottlenecks in relational database systems, i.e. IO data transfer bottleneck, data processing bottleneck, and multiquery optimization bottleneck. For reducing these bottlenecks, the TDM provides the approaches of data partition and data distribution upon data storages for concurrent data accesses, the tree-structured multiprocessor architecture for parallel data processing, the technique of tightly-coupled-shared-memory for decreasing data movement, the mechanisms of indices and dictionaries for reducing data transfer from the data storages to the memory, and so on. These features show that the TDM not only improves the system performance, increases the parallelism and the data processing power, but also eliminates the performance bottlenecks in relational database systems.

Abstract: A smart sensor system for real time remote sensing image processing on-board satellites is described. In order to implement the optimum system, its hardware and software should be taken an overall consideration. A serial pipeline suited to scanning data processing in real time is adopted as the system architecture. Meanwhile, 3 X 3 mask texture analysis and Hadamard-DPCM data compression suited to the pipeline processing are selected as the system algorithms. Based on the experiment of the model, a practical smart sensor system is presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element analysis was used to predict residual flexural stiffness and strength of SMC-R50 composite panels after impact, and the results were compared with experimental data.
Abstract: Thickness change in SMC-R50 composite panels was used as a parameter to gauge impact-induced damage. Relations between thickness change and reductions in bending rigidity and bending strength were determined experimentally. These relations were then used in a finite element analysis to predict residual flexural stiffness and strength of SMC panels after impact. Analytical predictions were compared with experimental data.
