Abstract: This article devotes to investigating the issue of fuzzy adaptive control for a class of strict-feedback nonlinear systems with nonaffine nonlinear faults. The computational complexity is reduced by adopting the dynamic surface control technique. Under the framework of finite-time stability, a novel fault-tolerant control strategy is designed so that the closed-loop system is semiglobally practically finite-time stable, and the tracking error converges to a small residual set in a finite time. Finally, simulation studies for an electromechanical system are shown to verify the feasibility of the presented approach.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel multiple sparse representation framework for visual tracking which jointly exploits the shared and feature-specific properties of different features by decomposing multiple sparsity patterns and introduces a novel online multiple metric learning to efficiently and adaptively incorporate the appearance proximity constraint.
Abstract: The use of multiple features has been shown to be an effective strategy for visual tracking because of their complementary contributions to appearance modeling. The key problem is how to learn a fused representation from multiple features for appearance modeling. Different features extracted from the same object should share some commonalities in their representations while each feature should also have some feature-specific representation patterns which reflect its complementarity in appearance modeling. Different from existing multi-feature sparse trackers which only consider the commonalities among the sparsity patterns of multiple features, this paper proposes a novel multiple sparse representation framework for visual tracking which jointly exploits the shared and feature-specific properties of different features by decomposing multiple sparsity patterns. Moreover, we introduce a novel online multiple metric learning to efficiently and adaptively incorporate the appearance proximity constraint, which ensures that the learned commonalities of multiple features are more representative. Experimental results on tracking benchmark videos and other challenging videos demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed tracker.

TL;DR: In this article, a CuO coated ceramic hollow fiber membrane with dual functionalities of membrane filtration and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation was successfully constructed by applying phase-inversion and dip-coating technologies.
Abstract: A CuO coated ceramic hollow fiber membrane with dual functionalities of membrane filtration and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation was successfully constructed by applying phase-inversion and dip-coating technologies. The CuO coating condition was investigated, and the optimized CuO coated ceramic hollow fiber membranes (CuO@CHFMs) exhibited excellent catalytic activity for PMS activation to depredate bisphenol A (BPA) in the presence of humic acid (HA), chloride ions (Cl−) and bicarbonate (HCO3−). Based on the scavenger experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses, the non-radical reactive oxygen species - singlet oxygen (1O2), rather than sulfate radicals (SO4•-) or hydroxyl radicals (•OH), was elucidated as the primary reactive species responsible for the oxidation of BPA in the system. The redox circles of Cu(II)/Cu(I) on the CuO surface of the CuO@CHFMs are mainly responsible for PMS activation and a possible degradation pathway of BPA was proposed. Moreover, the CuO@CHFMs exhibited excellent stability and reusability without tedious catalyst separation/recovery processes. This study is meaningful for the development of novel catalytic membrane with PMS activation functionality in water treatment.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate the strategies and principles for the performance improvement of layered semiconductor based photodetectors using multilayer indium selenide (InSe) as the model material.
Abstract: We demonstrate the strategies and principles for the performance improvement of layered semiconductor based photodetectors using multilayer indium selenide (InSe) as the model material. It is discovered that multiple reflection interference at the interfaces in the phototransistor device leads to a thickness-dependent photo-response, which provides a guideline to improve the performance of layered semiconductor based phototransistors. The responsivity and detectivity of InSe nanosheet phototransistor can be adjustable using applied gate voltage. Our InSe nanosheet phototransistor exhibits ultrahigh responsivity and detectivity. An ultrahigh external photo-responsivity of ∼104 A W−1 can be achieved from broad spectra ranging from UV to near infrared wavelength using our InSe nanosheet photodetectors. The detectivity of multilayer InSe devices is ∼1012 to 1013 Jones, which surpasses that of the currently exploited InGaAs photodetectors (1011 to 1012 Jones). This research shows that multilayer InSe nanosheets are promising materials for high performance photodetectors.
