TL;DR: In this paper, the Turkish Embassy Letters have been explored in three promising new directions to more fully explore Montagu's religious identity and its relationship to her discussions of religious belief and practice; her unique role as a mother while traveling; and her place in the smallpox variolation controversy.
Abstract: Since the publication of Robert Halsband's biography of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu in 1956 and his later edited collection of her letters, modern scholars have been fascinated with the network of critical discourses in Montagu's writing in the Turkish Embassy Letters. Analyzing her work on multiple axes – religious, political, scientific, and gendered – contemporary critics have made this classic text accessible to new generations of readers and thinkers. Yet as scholarship on these letters continues to flourish, certain trends persist, often at the expense of new avenues of inquiry. This article proposes that several recent threads in the scholarly conversation surrounding the Turkish Embassy Letters have the potential to be expanded in three promising new directions to more fully explore Montagu's religious identity and its relationship to her discussions of religious belief and practice; her unique role as a mother while traveling; and her place in the smallpox variolation controversy and its relationship to disability.

TL;DR: In this paper, a paperless interlibrary loan department is proposed for smaller academic libraries. But, the paperless library may be unobtainable, and the ideal of a paper-less library is unattainable.
Abstract: While the ideal of a paperless library may be unobtainable, striving for a paperless interlibrary loan department is both possible and desirable. Interlibrary loan departments at smaller academic libraries are often understaffed and overworked. In this environment, streamlining and efficiency become priorities; implementing practical changes that save time, effort and money are critical. Changes may include going paperless, improving shipping techniques, using custom holdings wisely, and training staff for efficiency.

TL;DR: The authors found that students in the foreign language classroom who have religious goals may benefit from incorporating religious ideals and making connections with sacred texts with the goal of achieving success in learning a foreign language.
Abstract: There are some L2 educators who say that motivation is the most important factor that influences student learning and the successful acquisition of a foreign language As a result, a study regarding motivation in L2 students is crucial because it permits researchers to explore reasons for success (or failure) in learning a foreign language A study of this nature also allows greater insight into the ways that different types of motivation can help teachers and students alike in energizing the process of learning a language, which can bring greater success to the pedagogical process The present study suggests that religion is a motivating factor for many students Students in the foreign language classroom who have religious goals may benefit from incorporating religious ideals and making connections with sacred texts With these concepts in mind, instructors could design an L2 curriculum with religious tenets that implements the “Five Cs” of foreign language instruction Teachers can engage their students in the larger questions of cultural and linguistic identity, ultimately pointing the students toward a consideration of their own identities The result is a more successful L2 instruction, in addition to well-rounded students
