TL;DR: The authors examine the empirical relationship of participation and involvement with system usage and draw the following conclusions: user participation and user involvement represent two distinct constructs; the role of user participation in achieving system success may be less than has been generally believed.
Abstract: Defining user participation as the activities performed by users during system development and user involvement as the importance and personal relevance of a system to its user, the authors examine the empirical relationship of participation and involvement with system usage. Based on a field survey of 74 users of management support systems and 31 users of transaction systems the following conclusions are drawn: user participation and user involvement represent two distinct constructs; the role of user participation in achieving system success may be less than has been generally believed; user involvement, as defined and measured, is a key variable for system success; and as a distinct construct, user involvement is related to more variables than user participation alone. >

TL;DR: The concept of generalized center is introduced, defined as the point which minimizes the difference between maximum and average distances, and it is shown that this point coincides with the center in a tree.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we revisit the cent-dian location problem developed by Halpern, considering both the average and maximum distances. We provide a complete characterization of the cent-dians in the case of a tree and present a new algorithm to determine this set in the case of a general network. Second, to deal with distributional justice considerations in the access to the facility, we introduce the concept of generalized center defined as the point which minimizes the difference between maximum and average distances. We show that this point coincides with the center in a tree. An algorithm to find the generalized center in a general network is proposed.

TL;DR: Results of reliability and criterion-related validity analyses indicate that the instrument shows relatively high levels of internal consistency, the Cronbach's alphas for each of the ten dimensions of quality varying from 0.7 to 0.93.
Abstract: Ever since users started developing applications, information systems (IS) practitioners and researchers have been concerned about the quality of user-developed applications. The authors report the results of a study conducted in order to develop and test a measure of the construct. In order to do so, the major dimensions of software quality were identified from the software engineering literature and a questionnaire was developed. The questionnaire was completed by 28 users from a single organization. Results of reliability and criterion-related validity analyses indicate that the instrument shows relatively high levels of internal consistency, the Cronbach's alphas for each of the ten dimensions of quality varying from 0.7 to 0.93. Criterion-related validity was also found to be satisfactory. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive approach leads them to consider the market as a system based on interaction between institutions or organizations involved directly or indirectly in the advertising process and conclude that, overall, Cameroon's advertising market is weakly structured and dominated by a small number of large advertisers.
Abstract: This article reviews the structure of Cameroon's advertising market. After discussing changes in the market since 1985, the authors describe its current structure. A comprehensive approach leads them to consider the market as a system based on interaction between institutions or organizations involved directly or indirectly in the advertising process. The authors conclude that, overall, Cameroon's advertising market is weakly structured and dominated by a small number of large advertisers. They feel that the advertising agency system, especially in terms of the services it offers, is poorly adapted to Cameroon's small and medium-sized advertisers. They therefore propose a system of small and medium-sized agencies that would play a specific role geared to the limited needs of these advertisers.
