Abstract: This paper introduces a pickup and delivery problem encountered in servicing of offshore oil and gas platforms in the Norwegian Sea. A single vessel must perform pickups and deliveries at several offshore platforms. All delivery demands originate at a supply base and all pickup demands are also destined to the base. The vessel capacity may never be exceeded along its route. In addition, the amount of space available for loading and unloading operations is limited at each platform. The problem, called the Single Vehicle Pickup and Delivery Problem with Capacitated Customers consists of designing a least cost vehicle (vessel) route starting and ending at the depot (base), visiting each customer (platform), and such that there is always sufficient capacity in the vehicle and at the customer location to perform the pickup and delivery operations. This paper describes several construction heuristics as well as a tabu search algorithm. Computational results are presented.

Abstract: In this study, we investigate the short run effect of the 30 October 1995 Quebec referendum on the common stock returns of Quebec firms. Our results show that the uncertainty surrounding the referendum outcome had an impact on stock returns of Quebec firms. We also find that the effect of the referendum varied with the political risk exposure of Quebec firms, that is, the structure of assets and principally the degree of foreign involvement.

Abstract: It is generally believed that individuals are predisposed to organizational change and have a natural tendency to react in the same way, regardless of the change. This study deals with this popular belief by determining the level of discomfort experienced by 321 employees of the same organization who were simultaneously confronted with three organizational changes: a structural reorganization, a relocation of the workplace, and a technological change. The overall results reveal that each change creates a distinct level of discomfort. However, at an individual level, these results overshadow the presence of two patterns of discomfort with change: a dispositional pattern for almost a quarter (23%) of respondents, for whom the level of discomfort remains identical regardless of the change, and a situational pattern, prevalent among 77% of respondents, for whom the level of discomfort differs from one change to the next.
