TL;DR: In this paper, the governing equation of motion of thin flexural beams is studied in the context of strain gradient elasticity, and the results of the analysis are compared with the existing theories.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the structured panel discussion as a new form of broadcast news interaction and argued that both the sequential organization and intra-turn design of journalists' talk help construct their professional role as an authoritative expert (analyst and opinionated commentator).
Abstract: This article examines the structured panel discussion as a new form of broadcast news interaction. This involves live conversation among the anchorperson and news journalists on political news stories. The article draws upon the conversation analytic literature on news interviews, as well as detailed discourse analysis of journalistic discourse. By analysing data from Greek commercial prime-time news, it is argued that both the sequential organization and intra-turn design of journalists’ talk help construct their professional role as that of an authoritative expert (analyst and opinionated commentator) on political current affairs. The rhetoric of expertise legitimizes the journalists’ attribution of accountability, as well as their formulation of personal points of view. Given the absence of political actors from such extended exchanges, journalists are enabled to ‘impose’ their preferred readings of political actions and events on the audience. The structured panel discussion is a unique inter-journali...

TL;DR: This paper proposes to illustrate the many aspects of Poincare recurrence time theorem for an archetype of a complex system, the logistic map, in different tests and computations, each one illuminating the many aspect of the problem of recurrence.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the many aspects of Poincare recurrence time theorem for an archetype of a complex system, the logistic map.Design/methodology/approach – At the beginning of the twentieth century, Poincare's recurrence theorem had revolutionized modern mechanics and statistical physics. However, this theorem did not attract considerable attention, at least from a numerical and computational point of view. In a series of relatively recent papers, Balakrishnan, Nicolis and Nicolis have addressed the recurrence time problem in a firm basis, introducing notation, theory, and numerical studies. Motivated by this call, the paper proposes to illustrate the many aspects of Poincare recurrence time theorem for an archetype of a complex system, the logistic map. The authors propose here in different tests and computations, each one illuminating the many aspects of the problem of recurrence. The paper ends up with a short discussion and conclusions.Findings – In this paper, the a...

TL;DR: In this article, a classification about the causality of the phenomena is attempted; the rf field gradient electron drift is proved to be the initial cause, and the electron-neutral collision frequency effect on the other plasma parameters and quantities.
Abstract: Abstract Many experimental data along with their theoretical interpretations on the rf low-temperature cylindrical plasma have been issued until today. Our Laboratory has contributed to that research by publishing results and interpretative mathematical models. With the present paper, two issues are being examined; firstly, the estimation of electron drift caused by the rf field gradient, which is the initial reason for the plasma behaviour, and secondly, many new experimental results, especially the electron-neutral collision frequency effect on the other plasma parameters and quantities. Up till now, only the plasma steady state was taken into consideration when a theoretical elaboration was carried out, regardless of the cause and the effect. This indicates the plasma's complicated and chaotic configuration and the need to simplify the problem. In the present work, a classification about the causality of the phenomena is attempted; the rf field gradient electron drift is proved to be the initial cause.
