TL;DR: In this paper, the Anderson-Newns model was used to investigate the chemisorption properties of hydrogen adsorption on contaminated substrates and it was found that the presence of an impurity atom can enhance or diminish the charge transfer, and even reverse the flow of electrons to the adsorbate.
