TL;DR: A perfectly planar Al13+ cluster (CI) and a quasi-planar CII cluster (CII) have been found for the first time and have a triangular core surrounded by a set of ten Al atoms in the form of a ring.
Abstract: A perfectly planar Al13+ cluster (CI) and a quasi-planar Al13+ cluster (CII) have been found for the first time. Both clusters have a triangular core surrounded by a set of ten Al atoms in the form of a ring. These cationic clusters have substantial aromatic character. The planar CI cluster has local antiaromatic patches within global aromatic sea. It is doubly aromatic having both σ and π aromatic character. The quasi-planar CII cluster is also aromatic but it has more σ-delocalization. Graphical abstract Planar and quasi-planar Al13+ clusters with triangular core surrounded by a ring of ten atoms.

04 Oct 2012TL;DR: An electrical model of the respiratory system for the diagnosis of very common ventilatory diseases, like bronchitis and emphysema, under chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and the root locus technique has been incorporated to monitor the condition of the affected respiratory system.
Abstract: This paper proposes an electrical model of the respiratory system for the diagnosis of very common ventilatory diseases, like bronchitis and emphysema, under chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Here we have developed an electrical model which is analogous to the physiological structure of the human respiratory system. The model comprises of passive electrical components (R, L and C). The input impedance is derived from the electrical model. Different time-domain responses are observed from the impedance to study the respiratory tract and alveoli conditions for qualitative assessment of bronchitis (due to narrowed bronchial tubes) and emphysema (due to air pollutants, smoking etc.) respectively. For each of the diseases, we have considered its different qualitative stages or levels e.g. average, good and poor for productive analysis. Finally, from the stability point of view, the root locus technique has been incorporated to monitor the condition of the affected respiratory system. These root locus plots also support the expected clinical phenomena from respiratory system for healthy and COPD affected subjects.

01 Oct 2016TL;DR: This paper has proposed a novel method to identify the Epilepsy from EEG signals using cross-wavelet transform, which has not been used before for EEG signal classification.
Abstract: Fast and automatic identification and analysis of different bio-medical signals is of growing importance nowadays. This necessitates the application of different computer aided diagnosis methods to interpret, distinguish and analyze various signals and images. In this paper, we have proposed a novel method to identify the Epilepsy from EEG signals. RBF Kernel based Support Vector Machine (SVM) is employed for automatic classification of normal (with closed eyes) and epilepsy patients from their Electroencephalography or EEG signals. Six features are extracted from EEG signals using cross-wavelet transform. Cross-wavelet Transform has not been used before for EEG signal classification. These features are used to train SVM performing binary classification. The average accuracy of SVM based binary classifier is obtained as high as 84.90% in 10-fold cross-validation.

03 Jun 2008TL;DR: This work has implemented the reversible quantum gates and according to the definition of reversible gates, it has used an equal number of inputs and outputs in the design scheme and successfully tested in the authors' modern classical computers.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose quantum watermarking and extraction algorithms for handwritten signature. Handwritten signature image can be transmitted from source to target securely over untrusted network by using this scheme. It appears that the laws of physics are completely reversible. That is, from any physical process we can always deduce the inputs from the outputs. Classical computers would at first appear to violate this law as we can easily create functions on classical computers that are not reversible. In quantum computers, we cannot allow this situation to occur. Here, in this work we have implemented the reversible quantum gates and according to the definition of reversible gates, we have used an equal number of inputs and outputs in our design scheme and successfully tested in our modern classical computers. This work will show the new research area in the line of quantum watermarking.

TL;DR: It is concluded that peer review of code may have a distinct dynamic that is facilitated by developers working in relative isolation.
Abstract: As large scale software development has become more collaborative, and software teams more globally distributed, several studies have explored how developer interaction influences software development outcomes. The emphasis so far has been largely on outcomes like defect count, the time to close modification requests etc. In the paper, we examine data from the Chromium project to understand how different aspects of developer discussion relate to the closure time of reviews. On the basis of analyzing reviews discussed by 2000+ developers, our results indicate that quicker closure of reviews owned by a developer relates to higher reception of information and insights from peers. However, we also find evidence that higher engagement in collaboration by a developer is associated with slower closure of the reviews she owns. Within the scope of our study, these results lead us to conclude that peer review of code may have a distinct dynamic that is facilitated by developers working in relative isolation.
