TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a summary of the reaction kinetics of catalytic ammonia decomposition and compare the catalysts that have different active components, supports, and promoters, concluding that Ru is the most active catalyst, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are the most effective support, and KOH is the best promoter.
Abstract: Due to the drive for better environmental protection and energy conversion efficiency, on-site generation of CO x -free hydrogen from ammonia decomposition for fuel cell applications has attracted much attention. The development of high performance solid catalysts is essential for the supply of such hydrogen from ammonia. In this mini-review, we provide a summary of the reaction kinetics of catalytic ammonia decomposition. Comparisons are then made among the catalysts that have different active components, supports, and promoters. According to the works reported in the literature and our recent research results, Ru is the most active catalyst, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are the most effective support, and KOH is the best promoter. An increase in Ru dispersion results in better catalytic performance. Both support basicity and conductivity are important criteria for a NH 3 decomposition catalyst of high efficiency; and it seems possible to generate novel advanced support, such as oxide-CNTs nanocomposite materials, that bears such characteristics. Also, proper removal of the electron-withdrawing entities that originate from the precursors of active component, support or promoter can be effective in enhancing the catalytic activity of a Ru catalyst.

TL;DR: This paper presents a new k-means type algorithm for clustering high-dimensional objects in sub-spaces that can generate better clustering results than other subspace clustering algorithms and is also scalable to large data sets.
Abstract: This paper presents a new k-means type algorithm for clustering high-dimensional objects in sub-spaces. In high-dimensional data, clusters of objects often exist in subspaces rather than in the entire space. For example, in text clustering, clusters of documents of different topics are categorized by different subsets of terms or keywords. The keywords for one cluster may not occur in the documents of other clusters. This is a data sparsity problem faced in clustering high-dimensional data. In the new algorithm, we extend the k-means clustering process to calculate a weight for each dimension in each cluster and use the weight values to identify the subsets of important dimensions that categorize different clusters. This is achieved by including the weight entropy in the objective function that is minimized in the k-means clustering process. An additional step is added to the k-means clustering process to automatically compute the weights of all dimensions in each cluster. The experiments on both synthetic and real data have shown that the new algorithm can generate better clustering results than other subspace clustering algorithms. The new algorithm is also scalable to large data sets.

TL;DR: Li et al. as discussed by the authors proposed an integrative framework that unbundles the benefits and risks of guanxi and delineates the organizational processes to internalize Guanxi as a corporate core competence.
Abstract: Guanxi refers to the durable social connections and networks a firm uses to exchange favors for organizational purposes. This study examines how and when guanxi operates as a governance mechanism that influences firm marketing competence and performance in the transitional economy of China. Drawing on social capital theory, the authors propose an integrative framework that unbundles the benefits and risks of guanxi and delineates the organizational processes to internalize guanxi as a corporate core competence. The authors surveyed senior executives in 282 firms in China's consumer products industries. The findings confirm guanxi's direct effects on market performance and its indirect effects mediated through channel capability and responsive capability. The authors also confirm that technological turbulence and competition intensity can be effective structure-loosening forces, thus reducing the governance effects of guanxi. The findings suggest that firms can improve market access and growth thr...

TL;DR: The authors report the collaborative efforts of 2 research teams that independently investigated the effects of stable personality traits (the Big Five) and specific behavioral competencies (cultural flexibility, task and people orientations, and ethnocentrism) on key dimensions of expatriate effectiveness: psychological adjustment, assignment withdrawal cognitions, and job performance.
Abstract: The authors report the collaborative efforts of 2 research teams that independently investigated the effects of stable personality traits (the Big Five) and specific behavioral competencies (cultural flexibility, task and people orientations, and ethnocentrism) on key dimensions of expatriate effectiveness: psychological adjustment, assignment withdrawal cognitions, and job performance. Analyses of multiple-source and longitudinal data from 3 studies, including a diverse sample of expatriates in Hong Kong and separate samples of Korean and Japanese expatriates posted around the world, indicate several direct effects of individual differences. Further data show reliable distinctions between the traits and competencies as well as incremental prediction by either set of predictors in the presence of the others.
