TL;DR: Comparing the KPSR with eight other contemporary tracking methods on 13 benchmark video data sets, the experimental results show that the K PSR tracker outperforms classical or state-of-the-art tracking methods in the presence of partial occlusion, background clutter, and illumination change.
Abstract: Many conventional computer vision object tracking methods are sensitive to partial occlusion and background clutter. This is because the partial occlusion or little background information may exist in the bounding box, which tends to cause the drift. To this end, in this paper, we propose a robust tracker based on key patch sparse representation (KPSR) to reduce the disturbance of partial occlusion or unavoidable background information. Specifically, KPSR first uses patch sparse representations to get the patch score of each patch. Second, KPSR proposes a selection criterion of key patch to judge the patches within the bounding box and select the key patch according to its location and occlusion case. Third, KPSR designs the corresponding contribution factor for the sampled patches to emphasize the contribution of the selected key patches. Comparing the KPSR with eight other contemporary tracking methods on 13 benchmark video data sets, the experimental results show that the KPSR tracker outperforms classical or state-of-the-art tracking methods in the presence of partial occlusion, background clutter, and illumination change.

TL;DR: Zeng and Keitel as discussed by the authors proposed an arbitrated quantum signature scheme using two-particle entangled Bell states similar to the previous scheme using threeparticle entanglement Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states, which can preserve the merits in the original scheme while providing a higher efficiency in transmission and reducing the complexity of implementation.
Abstract: In an arbitrated quantum signature scheme, the signatory signs the message and the receiver verifies the signature's validity with the assistance of the arbitrator. We present an arbitrated quantum signature scheme using two-particle entangled Bell states similar to the previous scheme using three-particle entangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states [G. H. Zeng and C. H. Keitel, Phys. Rev. A 65, 042312 (2002)]. The proposed scheme can preserve the merits in the original scheme while providing a higher efficiency in transmission and reducing the complexity of implementation.

TL;DR: An extensive study of the two-segment Frenkel-Kontorova model is conducted, showing that the rectification effect of the heat flux reported in recent literature is possible only in the weak interfacial coupling limit.
Abstract: In this Letter, we conduct an extensive study of the two-segment Frenkel-Kontorova model. We show that the rectification effect of the heat flux reported in recent literature is possible only in the weak interfacial coupling limit. The rectification effect will be reversed when the properties of the interface and the system size change. These two types of asymmetric heat conduction are governed by different mechanisms though both are induced by nonlinearity. An intuitive physical picture is proposed to interpret the reversal of the rectification effect. Since asymmetric heat conduction depends critically on the properties of the interface and the system size, it is probably not an easy task to fabricate a thermal rectifier or thermal diode in practice.

TL;DR: The experimental results show that the quality of restored images by the proposed method is competitive with those restored by the existing total variation restoration methods.
Abstract: In this paper, we study a fast total variation minimization method for image restoration. In the proposed method, we use the modified total variation minimization scheme to denoise the deblurred image. An alternating minimization algorithm is employed to solve the proposed total variation minimization problem. Our experimental results show that the quality of restored images by the proposed method is competitive with those restored by the existing total variation restoration methods. We show the convergence of the alternating minimization algorithm and demonstrate that the algorithm is very efficient.
