Abstract: This study attempted to develop a standardized instrument for assessment of prosocial reasoning in Chinese populations. The Prosocial Reasoning Objective Measure (PROM) was translated, and a two-stage study was conducted to evaluate the psychometric properties of the translated instrument. The content validity, cultural relevance, and reading level of the translated instrument were evaluated by an expert panel. Upon revisions according to the expert opinions, the Chinese PROM demonstrated good content validity, “good-to-very good test-retest” reliability, and internal consistency. However, only partial support to the convergent validity of the Chinese PROM was found. In the first stage of the study (n = 50), the PROM scores had high positive correlations with empathy and negative correlations with personal distress and fantasy. These results were consistent with theoretical expectations, although this is also a concern that empathy had a close-to-unity correlation with PROM score in the small sample study of stage 1. In the second stage of the study (n = 566), the relationship between PROM scores and prosocial behavior appeared to be weak. Results suggest that there were many personal, family, or social factors that were linked to prosocial behavior, and prosocial reasoning might only contribute to a small proportion of variation in prosocial behavior among adolescents.

Abstract: As the public is increasingly concerned about environmental issues, green management is rapidly becoming a strategic tool that can enhance a hotel's competitive advantage. This study explores how to develop the image and branding of a green hotel using the concepts of cognitive, affective and overall images. The study, based on a survey of 416 hotel users, also investigates how a green hotel image can affect behavioural intentions (i.e. intention to revisit, intention to offer positive recommendations to others and willingness to pay a premium). The findings confirm that cognitive image components (namely value and quality attributes) can exert a positive influence on a green hotel's affective and overall images. The affective image is also found to positively affect a green hotel's overall image. A green hotel's overall image, in turn, can contribute to more favourable behavioural intentions. Abstract: With an attempt to extend light absorption of TiO2-based photocatalyst toward the visible light range and eliminate the rapid recombination of excited electrons/holes during photoreaction, a new type of photocatalysts (Au/Au3+-TiO2) powder was prepared by a photoreduction/sol−gel process. The crystal phase composition, surface structure, and light absorption of the new photocatalysts were comprehensively examined by X-ray differential detection (XRD), UV−visible absorption spectra, X-ray photoelectron emission spectroscopy (XPS), and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The photooxidation efficiencies of the photocatalysts were also evaluated in the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solutions under visible light irradiation from a high-pressure sodium lamp (λ > 400 nm). The results of PL analyses in this study indicated that the gold/gold ion-doping on the surface of TiO2 could eliminate the electron/holes recombination and also increase the light absorption in the visible range.
