Abstract: A large pediatric hospital in downtown Toronto served as the site of an immediate psychiatric clinic. Distinct subgroups appeared among the patients along clinical, ethnic and socio-economic lines, necessitating differing modes of intervention. While the problems of providing mental health services in this major Canadian city are many and complex, the city has not experienced the same degree of inner deterioration and violence seen in many cities in the United States.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating red cells from plasma in whole blood in which a diluent is added to whole blood to produce separation of the red cells. A double lumen cannula instrument may be used in withdrawing the blood from a patient and having an outer lumen for providing an anticoagulant diluent and an inner lumen for withdrawing blood plus diluent, the body portion of the instrument being approximately one inch long and made of a silastic material.
