TL;DR: In this paper, a coherent detection of optical signals using a digital signal processor (36) and a local oscillator (56) is presented. But the system does not need to be phase-locked to the signal.
Abstract: A method and system of coherent detection of optical signals. The system utilizes a digital signal processor (36) to recover an incoming optical signal. The system employs a local oscillator (56), which does not need to be phase locked to the signal. The signal may be consistently recovered, even when the polarization state varies over time. Additionally, the signal may be recovered when it comprises two channels of the same wavelength that are polarization multiplexed together. In addition, any impairment to the signal may be reversed or eliminated.

TL;DR: In this paper, a data repository abstraction layer provides a logical view of an underlying data repository that is independent of the particular manner of data representation, and a query abstraction layer is also provided.
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to a system, method and article of manufacture for accessing data represented abstractly through an abstraction model. In one embodiment, a data repository abstraction layer provides a logical view of an underlying data repository that is independent of the particular manner of data representation. A query abstraction layer is also provided and is based on the data repository abstraction layer. A runtime component performs conversion of an abstract query (i.e., a request for results or a request to modify data) into a form that can be used against a particular physical data representation. Abstract and/or physical queries are transformed according to model entities which define a relationship between logical fields of the data repository abstraction layer.

TL;DR: Disclosed as discussed by the authors is a method for preventing IP address cheating in dynamic address allocation, which checks the source MAC address and the source IP address involved in an ARP packet sent from a subscriber terminal, i.e., detect whether there is a matching item in the legal subscriber address table.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for preventing IP address cheating in dynamic address allocation. Firstly, check the source MAC address and the source IP address involved in an ARP packet sent from a subscriber terminal, i.e., detect whether there is a matching item in the legal subscriber address table; if so, process it normally, otherwise discard the ARP packet. In this way, an illegal subscriber cannot access to network through IP address cheating, but a legal subscriber can operate normally and continuously. For a subscriber terminal with a static IP address, a static item table is set in the legal subscriber address by manual configuration. When a new subscriber terminal asks for being allocated an IP address, check whether the IP address to be allocated has been set as a static item; if so, inform the subscriber terminal of applying for another IP address. In this way, it is guaranteed that static IP address having been allocated to a subscriber terminal will not be re-allocated, and it is avoided that the subscriber terminal with legal static IP address cannot access to network normally due to the re-allocation of IP address.

TL;DR: In this paper, an adaptive digital predistortion scheme for transmitting broadband digital signals from a wireless transmitter to a transmitting channel is presented. But the scheme is not suitable for the case of wireless networks.
Abstract: An adaptive digital predistortion apparatus and method for transmitting broadband digital signals from a wireless transmitter to a transmitting channel are provided. In the adaptive digital predistortion process, a non-linearity conversion opposite to the transmitting channel characteristic is performed by a digital predistorter for input baseband signals. The predistorted signals are amplified by a power amplifier via an up conversion channel. A part of the signals outputted from the power amplifier are fed back to an adaptive controller via a coupler. The feedback signals are processed by the adaptive controller to obtain out-of-band emission energy of the feedback signals. Using the out-of-band emission energy as a target function, the predistortion parameters are updated by employing a multi-parameter optimum seeking module. Accordingly, broadband signals to be transmitted are predistorted by the digital predistortion system to cancel out the non-linear characteristic of the transmitting channels, and to suppress the out-of-band emission energy of the outputting signals. Meanwhile, by using a multi-parameter optimization seeking module, the predistortion parameters are adjusted adaptively by the digital predistortion system based on the slow variation of non-linearity of the transmitting channels.

TL;DR: In this article, a BS initiates a BOOTP Request to the base station controller (BSC) or RNC through the IPOA channel between the BS and the BSC/RNC, and then the BS obtains the IP address allocated to it from the reply from the BS or RNC.
Abstract: A method automatically establishes a base station operating and maintaining channel in International Mobile Telecommunications 2000. A BS initiates a BOOTP Request to the base station controller (BSC) or RNC through the IPOA channel between the BS and the BSC/RNC, and then the BS obtains the IP address allocated to it from the reply from the BSC/RNC, so that an operating and maintaining channel is established between the BS and the BSC/RNC. A BS can establish a maintaining channel for itself automatically when starting, avoiding IP address confliction and parallel starting problems. Moreover, establishing a maintaining channel for the BS results in an easy and small workload. Thus programs and data can be loaded automatically to the BS, and the BS can be effectively configured and maintained by a remote device (i.e., the operating and maintaining station of the BS) at a low cost, and good quality is realized. The method is suitable for star networking, recurrent networking, tree networking, ring networking, etc.
