TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that strontium-substituted lanthanum cobaltite, La 1 − xSr xCoO 3 − δ, has much less tolerance for any variation in the A/B ratio than its manganite counterpart.

TL;DR: In this paper, a transient three-dimensional model of a porous regenerator operating at room temperature is presented, where the solid magnetic material and the regeneration fluid are modeled separately, and the fluid flows through interstitial channels formed by a regular matrix of solid particles.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a defensive scheme for Hydro-Quebec's transmission system based entirely on automatic action, which mainly relies on a 735 kV shunt reactor switching system (called MAIS), a generation rejection and/or remote load shedding scheme (called RPTC), and an underfrequency load shedding system.
Abstract: Hydro-Quebec has undertaken a major program to upgrade the reliability of its transmission system. Much effort has been directed toward increasing the system's capacity to withstand extreme contingencies, usually caused by multiple incidents or the successive tripping of transmission lines. In order to counter such events, Hydro-Quebec has adopted a defensive scheme. Based entirely on automatic action, this scheme will mainly rely on: a 735 kV shunt reactor switching system (called MAIS); a generation rejection and/or remote load-shedding system (called RPTC); and an underfrequency load-shedding system. The MAIS system, which is the subject of this paper, will be implemented in 22 substations and is required to control voltage on the system after a severe event. Each MAIS system, acting locally, is entirely independent and will close or trip shunt reactors in response to local conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of inductive fault current limiters based on Bi-2212 high temperature superconducting tubes has been evaluated and the fault current limitation is due to the nonlinear impedance of this device.
Abstract: The current limiting performance of inductive fault current limiters based on Bi-2212 high temperature superconducting tubes has been evaluated. Fault current limitation is due to the nonlinear impedance of this device when the induced current in the superconducting Bi-2212 tubes exceeds the critical current. A power load in a test circuit is first operated in nominal power conditions ( >

TL;DR: In this article, a model for hourly load (hourly*energy consumption) forecasting is developed based on using the linear estimation theory to obtain four different prediction models for the load at a particular hour corresponding to the four correlation periods, namely an hour*, a day, a week and a year.
Abstract: A model for hourly load (hourly*energy consumption) forecasting is developed. The method is based on using the linear estimation theory to obtain four different prediction models for the load at a particular hour corresponding to the four correlation periods, namely an hour*, a day, a week and a year. The four predicted values with their respective variances are combined optimally to obtain a composite forecast for the hour. The holiday forecasts are improved by selectively rejecting one or more of these four predicted values. Actual data from the Hydro-Quebec system load file for the period of September 28, 1969 to September 26, 1971, is used as data for identification of the model. The load forecasts for the period of September 27, 1971 to September 26, 1972 are compared with the loads actually realized during the same period.
