TL;DR: In this paper, an electrode based on a highly porous carbonized polyacrylonitrile foam material with very low platinum loading was proposed for oxygen reduction and compared with bulk platinum and glassy carbon electrodes.
Abstract: In recent years, interest in the development of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) has considerably increased due to its advantages (e.g., high power density) compared with other fuel cell systems, and its potentials to become the power plant for the next generation, nonpolluting automobile engine. For large scale application of fuel cells, low platinum loading electrode structures are necessary. An electrode based on a highly porous carbonized polyacrylonitrile foam material with very low platinum loading ({approximately} 13 {micro}g/cm{sup 2}) was prepared. The performance of this electrode for oxygen reduction was evaluated and compared with bulk platinum and glassy carbon electrodes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an analysis of the phenomenon observed at Radisson, the northernmost terminal in the system, and a central issue which is discussed in the paper is the reflection of the DC side impedance to the AC side for operating converters.
Abstract: During the spring of 1991, several severe geomagnetic disturbances were recorded in North America, and particularly in Northern Quebec, where Hydro-Quebec's La Grande generation complex and transmission system are located. As a result of these disturbances, the Quebec-New England Phase II HVDC system was affected by transformer saturation and harmonic voltage distortion due to geomagnetic induced current (GIC). This paper presents an analysis of the phenomenon observed at Radisson, the northernmost terminal in the system. A central issue which is discussed in the paper is the reflection of the DC side impedance to the AC side for operating converters, and the effect of this reflection on the harmonic impedance as viewed from the AC side. >

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of phase change materials (PCMs) on the thermal performance of a hot water tank was investigated and the simulation results demonstrated that the integration of enhanced PCMs could shift the power demand to the off peak for a longer period of time compared to pure PCMs due to the higher thermal conductivity and the enhanced heat transfer rate.
