TL;DR: In this paper, three procedures namely, linearised version of the von Bertalanffy growth (VBG) model, nonlinear estimation of the VBG model with independently and identically distributed (i.i.d) error term, and nonlinear estimator with autocorrelated errors were applied to the age-length data of Indian mackerel under the assumptions of monophasic as well as diphasic growth.
Abstract: Three procedures namely, linearised version of the von Bertalanffy growth (VBG) model, nonlinear estimation of the VBG model with independently and identically distributed (i.i.d) error term, and nonlinear estimation of the VBG model with autocorrelated errors were applied to the age-length data of Indian mackerel under the assumptions of monophasic as well as diphasic growth. Based on sound statistical techniques, it is demonstrated that nonlinear estimation procedure with autocorrelated error structure performs the best.

TL;DR: It has been demonstrated that the usual allometric relationship does not always work satisfactorily, so a generalization of this model is studied in detail and used to determine the length‐weight relationship of some data on the Indian pearl oyster.
Abstract: Well-known allometric model is critically reviewed for determining the length-weight relationship. Procedure to be followed for applying this model under the assumption of multiplicative as well as additive error is discussed. The possibility of autocorrelations in error term is explored. It has been demonstrated that the usual allometric relationship does not always work satisfactorily. Accordingly, a generalization of this model is studied in detail. As an illustration, this generalized version of allometric model is used to determine the length-weight relationship of some data on the Indian pearl oyster.
