Abstract: This paper presents an adaptive super-twisting sliding mode control (STC) along with double-loop control for voltage tracking performance of three-phase differential boost inverter and DC-link capacitor voltage regulation in grid-connected PV system. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategies are demonstrated under realistic scenarios such as variations in solar insolation, load power demand, grid voltage, and transition from grid-connected to standalone mode etc. Additional supplementary power quality control functions such as harmonic compensation, and reactive power management are also investigated with the proposed control strategy. The results are compared with conventional proportional-integral controller, and PWM sliding mode controller. The system performance is evaluated in simulation and in real-time.

Abstract: A measurement of the cross section for top quark-antiquark (t (t) over bar) pairs produced in association with a photon in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8TeV is presented. The analysis uses data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(1). The signal is de fined as the production of a t (t) over bar pair in association with a photon having a transverse energy larger than 25 GeV and an absolute pseudorapidity smaller than 1.44. The measurement is performed in the fiducial phase space corresponding to the semileptonic decay chain of the t (t) over bar pair, and the cross section is measured relative to the inclusive t (t) over bar pair production cross section. The fiducial cross section for associated t (t) over bar pair and photon production is found to be 127 +/- 27 (stat + syst) fb per semileptonic final state. The measured value is in agreement with the theoretical prediction.

Abstract: With the aim of enhancing the nutrient removal from rural domestic wastewater while reducing the cost of the treatment process, a novel, integrated treatment system consisting of a multi-stage bio-filter with drop aeration and a post positioned attached growth carbonaceous denitrifying bio-reactor was designed and developed in this study. The bio-filter was packed with ‘dolochar’, a sponge iron industry waste, as an adsorbent mainly for phosphate removal through a physicochemical approach. The denitrifying bio-reactor was packed with many waste organic solid substances (WOSS) as carbon sources and substrates for biomass attachment, mainly to remove nitrate in the biological denitrification process. The performance of the modular system, treating real domestic wastewater was monitored for a period of about 60 days and the average removal efficiencies during the period were as follows: phosphate, 99.48%; nitrate, 92.44%, ammonia, 96.64%, with mean final effluent concentration of 0.153, 5.5, and 1.06 mg L−1, respectively. This treatment system would allow multipurpose reuse of the final effluent. Moreover, the saturated dolochar can be used as a nutrient supply in agricultural practices and the partially degraded carbonaceous substances can also be used as an organic fertilizer after composting. Thus, the system displays immense potential for treating domestic wastewater significantly by decreasing the concentrations of nutrient and most importantly, facilitating the conversion of the waste materials into usable ones.

Abstract: We report inclusive and exclusive measurements for chi(c1) and chi(c2) production in B decays. We measure B(B -> chi X-c1) = (3.03 +/- 0.05 (stat) +/- 0.24(syst)) x 10(-3) and B(B -> chi X-c2) = (0.70 +/- 0.06 (stat) +/- 0.10(syst)) x 10(-3). For the first time, chi(c2) production in exclusive B decays in the modes B-0 -> chi(c2) pi K--(+) and B-0 -> chi(c2) pi(-)pi K-+(+) has been observed, along with first evidence for the B-0 -> chi(c2) pi K--(s)0 decay mode. For chi c1 production, we report the first observation in the B+ -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(+), B-0 -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(s)0 and B-0 -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(+) decay modes. Using these decay modes, we observe a difference in the production mechanism of chi(c2) in comparison to chi(c1) in B decays. In addition, we report searches for X(3872) and chi(c1) (2P) in the B+ -> (chi(c1) pi(+)pi(-))K+ decay mode. The reported results use 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.
