Abstract: In the context of dilaton coupled Einstein gravity with a negative cosmological constant and a Born–Infeld field, we study heat engines where a charged black hole is the working substance. Using the existence of a notion of thermodynamic mass and volume (which depend on the dilaton coupling), the mechanical work takes place via the pdV terms present in the first law of extended gravitational thermodynamics. The efficiency is analyzed as a function of dilaton and Born–Infeld couplings, and the results are compared with analogous computations in the related conformal solutions in the Brans–Dicke–Born–Infeld theory and black holes in anti-de Sitter space-time.

Abstract: A nucleophilic substitution of propargylic alcohols with carbon (arene, heteroarene, and allyltrimethylsilane), sulfur (thiol), oxygen (alcohol), and nitrogen (sulfonamide) nucleophiles has been demonstrated using a high-valent [Ir(COD)(SnCl(3))Cl(mu-Cl)](2) catalyst in 1,2-dichloroethane to afford the corresponding propargylic products in moderate to excellent yields. Alkyl or aryl substituted tertiary propargylic alcohols produce substituted indenes with bulky arenes via allenylic intermediate. An electrophilic mechanism is proposed from Hammett correlation.

Abstract: Creep strength enhanced ferritic/martensitic 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb (P91) steel is also designated as ASTM A335 used for out-of-core and in-core (piping, cladding, ducts, wrappers, and pressure vessel) of Gen IV reactors. In present investigation, the dissimilar weld joint of P91 and P92 steel were made using the autogenous tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding with single pass, double side pass and multi-pass gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding with filler wire. Microstructure evolution in sub-zones and mechanical properties of dissimilar welded joints were studied in as-welded and post weld heat treatment (PWHT) condition. Formation of δ-ferrite patches in weld fusion zone and heat affected zones (HAZs) and their influence on the mechanical behaviour of the welded joints were also studied. Presence of higher content of ferrite stabilizer in P92 steel have resulted the formation of δ-ferrite patches in weld fusion zone as well as HAZs. The δ-ferrite was observed in autogenous TIG welds joints. The δ-ferrite patches were formed in as-welded condition and remained in the microstructure after the PWHT. The δ-ferrite patches leads to reduction in Charpy toughness of autogenous TIG welds joint and also lower down the average hardness of weld fusion zone. Peak hardness and poor impact toughness were observed for autogenous TIG welds joint as compared to GTA welds. For microstructure characterization, field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and optical microscope were utilized.

Abstract: A search for new massive particles decaying into a pair of Higgs bosons in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV is presented. Data were collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The search is performed for resonances with a mass between 0.8 and 3.5 TeV using events in which one Higgs boson decays into a bottom quark pair and the other decays into two W bosons that subsequently decay into a lepton, a neutrino, and a quark pair. The Higgs boson decays are reconstructed with techniques that identify final state quarks as substructure within boosted jets. The data are consistent with standard model expectations. Exclusion limits are placed on the product of the cross section and branching fraction for generic spin-0 and spin-2 massive resonances. The results are interpreted in the context of radion and bulk graviton production in models with a warped extra spatial dimension. These are the best results to date from searches for an HH resonance decaying to this final state, and they are comparable to the results from searches in other channels for resonances with masses below 1.5 TeV.

Abstract: The effect of weld groove design and heat treatment on microstructure evolution and Charpy toughness of P91 pipe weldments was studied. The P91 pipe weldments were subjected to subcritical post weld heat treatment (760 °C-2 h) and normalizing/tempering conditions (normalized-1040 °C/40 min, air cooled; tempered 760 °C/2 h, air cooled) were employed. The influence of subsequent PWHT and N&T treatment on the microstructure of various zone of P91 pipe weldments were also investigated. The present investigation also described the effect of PWHT and N&T treatment on hardness, grain size, precipitate size, inter-particle spacing and fraction area of precipitates present in each zone of P91 pipe weldments. The result indicated great impact of heat treatment on the Charpy toughness and microstructure evolution of P91 weldments. The N&T treatment was found to be more effective heat treatment compared to subsequent PWHT. Charpy toughness value was found to be higher for narrow-groove design as compared to conventional V-groove design.
