TL;DR: In this article, the effects of microplastics on the biological and ecosystem functions of soils have been investigated, and evidence has emerged for significant effects of MPs on biological functions of soil.
Abstract: Microplastics (MPs) are emerging persistent contaminants in the terrestrial subsurface, and evidence has emerged for significant effects of MPs on the biological and ecosystem functions of soils. M...

01 Aug 2018TL;DR: The test results indicate that the proposed relaying scheme can effectively protect the microgrid against faulty situations, including wide variations in operating conditions.
Abstract: This paper presents an intelligent protection scheme for microgrid using combined wavelet transform and decision tree. The process starts at retrieving current signals at the relaying point and preprocessing through wavelet transform to derive effective features such as change in energy, entropy, and standard deviation using wavelet coefficients. Once the features are extracted against faulted and unfaulted situations for each-phase,the data set is built to train the decision tree (DT), which is validated on the unseen data set for fault detection in the microgrid. Further, the fault classification task is carried out by including the wavelet based features derived from sequence components along with the features derived from the current signals. The new data set is used to build the DT for fault detection and classifi- cation. Both the DTs are extensively tested on a large data set of 3860 samples and the test results indicate that the proposed relaying scheme can effectively protect the microgrid against faulty situations, including wide variations in operating conditions.

TL;DR: Initial rate studies and DFT-based evaluation of stepwise energetics suggest an inverse relationship between the nucleophilic reactivity of a heteroatom donor and its binding affinity to cationic Ag(I).
Abstract: [Ag(COD)2]PF6 catalyzes the ring-opening of N-tosylaziridines and -azetidines with alcohols, amines, thiols, and related tethered 1,2-ethane dinucleophiles. Initial rate studies and DFT-based evaluation of stepwise energetics suggest an inverse relationship between the nucleophilic reactivity of a heteroatom donor and its binding affinity to cationic Ag(I).

TL;DR: In this article, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are crosscoupled via a C-C bonding through Suzuki reaction resulting in three-dimensional (3D) CNT sponges, and these 3D CNTs are studied for their efficacy toward the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic medium.
Abstract: Controlled assembly of mesoscopic structures can bring interesting phenomena because of their interfaces. Here, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are cross-coupled via a C–C bonding through Suzuki reaction resulting in three-dimensional (3D) CNT sponges, and these 3D CNTs are studied for their efficacy toward the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic medium—one of the promising methods for the production of a renewable energy source, hydrogen. Both single and multiwall CNTs (SWCNTs and MWCNTs) are studied for the development of 3DSWCNTs and 3DMWCNTs, and these 3D CNTs are found to be HER active with small reaction onset potentials and low charge-transfer resistances unlike their uncoupled counterparts. First-principle density functional calculations show that the combination of electron acceptor and donor bonded to the CNT network can provide a unique band structure modulation in the system facilitating the HER reaction. This study can provide possibilities for band engineering of CNTs via fu...

TL;DR: In this paper, the Laplacian spectrum of the lexicographic product of two graphs is characterized using the LaPLACIAN spectra of the inequalities of the factors.
Abstract: Graph products and their structural properties have been studied extensively
by many researchers. We investigate the Laplacian eigenvalues and
eigenvectors of the product graphs for the four standard products, namely,
the Cartesian product, the direct product, the strong product and the
lexicographic product. A complete characterization of Laplacian spectrum of
the Cartesian product of two graphs has been done by Merris. We give an
explicit complete characterization of the Laplacian spectrum of the
lexicographic product of two graphs using the Laplacian spectra of the
factors. For the other two products, we describe the complete spectrum of the
product graphs in some particular cases. We supply some new results relating
to the algebraic connectivity of the product graphs. We describe the
characteristic sets for the Cartesian product and for the lexicographic
product of two graphs. As an application we construct new classes of
Laplacian integral graphs.
