TL;DR: In this article, the scaling factor needed to compare adsorption isotherms of two samples having different surface areas and pore volumes was evaluated using two different procedures, and it was found that the ratio of specific adaption capacities of the two samples can be broadly classified into two regions.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of compression ratio on the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a dual fuel diesel engine run on raw biogas was investigated, where a 3.5-kW single cylinder, direct injection, water cooled, variable compression ratio diesel engine is converted into a biogAS run dual-fuel diesel engine by connecting a venturi gas mixer at the manifold.

TL;DR: Homogeneous systems, or more generally systems based on molecular catalysts, probably offer the greatest potential for regio- and chemoselective dehydrogenation of alkyl groups and alkanes.
Abstract: The alkyl group is the most common component of organic molecules and the most difficult to selectively functionalize. The development of catalysts for dehydrogenation of alkyl groups to give the corresponding olefins could open almost unlimited avenues to functionalization. Homogeneous systems, or more generally systems based on molecular (including solid-supported) catalysts, probably offer the greatest potential for regio- and chemoselective dehydrogenation of alkyl groups and alkanes. The greatest progress to date in this area has been achieved with pincer-ligated transition-metal-based catalysts; this and related chemistry are the subject of this review. Chemists are still far from achieving the most obvious and perhaps most attractive goal in this area, the dehydrogenation of simple alkanes to yield alkenes (specifically monoenes) with high yield and selectivity. Greater progress has been made with tandem catalysis and related approaches in which the initial dehydrogenated product undergoes a desira...

TL;DR: This paper proposes a new hierarchical monothetic clustering algorithm to build a topic hierarchy for a collection of search results retrieved in response to a query that progressively identifies topics in a way that maximizes the coverage while maintaining distinctiveness of the topics.
Abstract: Organizing Web search results into a hierarchy of topics and sub-topics facilitates browsing the collection and locating results of interest. In this paper, we propose a new hierarchical monothetic clustering algorithm to build a topic hierarchy for a collection of search results retrieved in response to a query. At every level of the hierarchy, the new algorithm progressively identifies topics in a way that maximizes the coverage while maintaining distinctiveness of the topics. We refer the proposed algorithm to as DisCover. Evaluating the quality of a topic hierarchy is a non-trivial task, the ultimate test being user judgment. We use several objective measures such as coverage and reach time for an empirical comparison of the proposed algorithm with two other monothetic clustering algorithms to demonstrate its superiority. Even though our algorithm is slightly more computationally intensive than one of the algorithms, it generates better hierarchies. Our user studies also show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the other algorithms as a summarizing and browsing tool.

TL;DR: The prominent mechanism of lipid extraction was diffusion across a cell wall and the selectivity of the solvent was found to be the most dominating factor in overall lipid extraction by diffusion than the intensity of bulk convection in the medium.
Abstract: In this paper, we have attempted to make a comparative assessment of the three techniques for extraction of lipids from microalgal biomass, viz. Soxhlet extraction, the Bligh and Dyer method, and sonication. The approach is mechanistic in the sense that we have tried to determine the physical mechanism of extraction of lipids (cell disruption or diffusion across a cell wall) from microalgae using microscopic analysis of extracted biomass. We have also assessed the relative influence of the solvent (or extractant) selectivity and the intensity of convection in the medium on the overall lipid yield. None of the techniques used produced complete disruption of the cells, not even sonication. Thus, the prominent mechanism of lipid extraction was diffusion across a cell wall. Moreover, the selectivity of the solvent was found to be the most dominating factor in overall lipid extraction by diffusion than the intensity of bulk convection in the medium.
