Abstract: Improved electrochromism has been reported from a hybrid nanoheterostructure-based array designed using transition-metal oxides and conducting polymers. An improvement in color contrast, coloration efficiency, and operating voltage makes these hybrid core–shell-type nanostructures (NSs) suitable for power efficient and reversible electrochromic applications showing switching between transparent and opaque states rather than resulting in colored/bleached switching. Nanopetals (NPs) of nickel oxide have been used as the backbone to grow nanohemispheres (NHs) of polyaniline onto a fluorine-doped tin oxide electrode using a two-step synthesis methodology consisting of a hydrothermal method, followed by an electrodeposition method. The coaxial NPs/NHs core–shell arrays exhibit a better electrochromic performance compared to their individual constituents. Abstract: Three ligands L1 [N,N-dimethyl-N′-(1-pyridin-2-yl-ethylidene)-ethane-1,2-diamine], L2 [2-morpholino-N-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)ethanamine] and L3 [(2-(piperidin-1-yl)-N-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)ethanamine)] were introduced to prepare five Cd(II) Schiff base complexes [Cd(L1)2](ClO4)2 (1), [Cd(L1)(Cyanoacetate)(OAc)] (2), [Cd2(L1)2(N3)4] (3), [Cd(L2)(N3)2]n (4), [Cd2 (L3)2(N3)4]n (5) and the corrosion inhibition properties of these complexes on mild steel upon treatment with 15% HCl have been examined where azide complexes have shown corrosion inhibition properties as revealed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) images show that the mild steel surface was protected by cadmium complexes. Among azido complexes polymeric complexes have higher inhibition activity which was further explained using density functional theory. So finally a new bridge between nuclearity driven coordination inorganic chemistry and materials as well as corrosion engineering was established by this observation.

Abstract: Outfitted with numerous coordination and hydrogen bonding sites, nucleotides represent a class of naturally occurring ligands for coordination with metals leading to both hard and soft materials for a wide range of applications. Reported herein, a new multistimuli-responsive metal–organic hydrogel through the spontaneous self-associative complexation of inosine 5′-monophosphate (IMP) with Ag(I) ions in aqueous medium. The strong and optically transparent hydrogels were formed without the aid of any external influences such as heating/cooling cycles or ultrasonication and comprise of an interconnected matrix of nanofilaments constructed from helically stacked, chiral arrays of Ag-IMP dimers. The metallogel exhibits diverse properties including self-healing, stimuli-responsiveness, transparency, and injectibility. Abstract: The current study assessed the climate change impacts on land productivity of major food and non-food grain crops in India. We compiled panel data for 30 years (1980-2009) using fifteen crops across thirteen agriculture intensive states. The value of production for each crop is estimated by farm harvest price (at constant prices, 1993-1994). Aggregate value of production on per hectare land is regressed with different socio-economic and climatic factors using the Cobb-Douglas (C-D) production function model. Estimates based on Driscoll-Kraay standard errors and linear regression and correlated Panels Corrected Standard Errors (PCSEs) (Prais-Winsten) estimation indicate that land productivity decreases with increase in annual average maximum temperature. The study concludes that Indian policymakers need to increase more irrigation facilities and fertilizers for cultivation. Land productivity is positively associated with irrigation area, number of pump set and application of fertilizers on per hectare land. In brief, more irrigation facilities; recommended use of fertilizer; more investment in infrastructure; participation of more literate population in agricultural activities; government expenditure on agricultural and allied sectors, rural development, irrigation and flood control would be useful to mitigate the negative effect of climate change on agriculture and improve agricultural productivity (land productivity). Finally, our projected results based on simulation technique showed that climate change would cause a decline in land productivity by 48.63 percent by the year 2100 and loss of farmers’ income in India.
