TL;DR: Three D-A type carbazole substituted BODIPY small molecules as donors along with PC71BM as an electron acceptor for the fabrication of solution processed bulk heterojunction organic solar cells improved up to 5.05% and 4.80%, attributed to the improved light harvesting ability of active layers.
Abstract: In this study, we have used three D-A type carbazole substituted BODIPY (carbazole connected to the meso position of BODIPY) small molecules as donors along with PC71BM as an electron acceptor for the fabrication of solution processed bulk heterojunction organic solar cells. The devices based on the as cast active layer showed power conversion efficiency in the range of 2.20-2.70%, with high open circuit voltage (Voc) in the range of 0.94-1.08 V. The high Voc is related to the deeper highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of these small molecules. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of devices based on thermally annealed and solvent vapor annealed (TSVA) :PC71BM and :PC71BM processed active layers improved up to 5.05% and 4.80%, respectively, attributed to the improved light harvesting ability of active layers, better phase separation for exciton dissociation and balanced charge transport, induced by the TA and TSVA treatment.

TL;DR: In this paper, an extension of the SM Higgs sector by a Higgs triplet was considered and the scalar potential of the Higgs particle was evaluated through the unitarity of the scattering matrix.
Abstract: We examine an extension of the SM Higgs sector by a Higgs triplet taking into consideration the discovery of a Higgs-like particle at the LHC with mass around 125 GeV. We evaluate the bounds on the scalar potential through the unitarity of the scattering matrix. Considering the cases with and without $$\mathbb {Z}_2$$ -symmetry of the extra triplet, we derive constraints on the parameter space. We identify the region of the parameter space that corresponds to the stability and metastability of the electroweak vacuum. We also show that at large field values the scalar potential of this model is suitable to explain inflation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the sphericity of primary charged particles in minimum bias proton-proton collisions at the LHC with the ALICE detector at the particle accelerometer.
Abstract: Measurements of the sphericity of primary charged particles in minimum bias proton–proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=0.9,~2.76\mbox{ and }7~\mathrm{TeV}$ with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. The observable is measured in the plane perpendicular to the beam direction using primary charged tracks with p T>0.5 GeV/c in |η|<0.8. The mean sphericity as a function of the charged particle multiplicity at mid-rapidity (N ch) is reported for events with different p T scales (“soft” and “hard”) defined by the transverse momentum of the leading particle. In addition, the mean charged particle transverse momentum versus multiplicity is presented for the different event classes, and the sphericity distributions in bins of multiplicity are presented. The data are compared with calculations of standard Monte Carlo event generators. The transverse sphericity is found to grow with multiplicity at all collision energies, with a steeper rise at low N ch, whereas the event generators show an opposite tendency. The combined study of the sphericity and the mean p T with multiplicity indicates that most of the tested event generators produce events with higher multiplicity by generating more back-to-back jets resulting in decreased sphericity (and isotropy). The PYTHIA6 generator with tune PERUGIA-2011 exhibits a noticeable improvement in describing the data, compared to the other tested generators.
