TL;DR: The structure and composition of the bimetallic particles were characterized by UV−visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscope, electron dispersive spectrograph and X-ray photoelectron spectrogram as discussed by the authors, and they provided an elegant SERS-active substrate compared to the corresponding monometallic nanoparticles.
Abstract: Beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) in alkaline solution has been observed to produce mono- and bimetallic nanoparticles of silver and gold and to provide in-house stability to both types of particles. Thus, the weak reducing capability of the β-CD molecule (oxidation occurs at +1.33 V vs Ag/AgCl) and its unique kinetic control over the evolution of both normal and inverted core−shell bimetallic architectures have been established. The structure and composition of the bimetallic particles were characterized by UV−visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron dispersive spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Bimetallic core−shell particles containing silver shells have been shown to provide an elegant SERS-active substrate compared to the corresponding monometallic nanoparticles, and therefore, they highlight the importance of electronic ligand effects on the enhancement of the Raman signals of molecular probes on nanostructured metallic surfaces.

TL;DR: In this article, the flow of an incompressible fluid past an infinite porous plate subject to either suction or blowing at the plate is studied, and the existence of solutions is tied in with the sign of material moduli.
Abstract: The flow of an incompressible fluid of second grade past an infinite porous plate subject to either suction or blowing at the plate is studied. It is found that existence of solutions is tied in with the sign of material moduli and in marked contrast to the Classical Newtonian, fluid solutions can be exhibited for the blowing problem.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a highly sensitive amperometric biosensor based on the hybrid material derived from nanoscale Pt particles (nPt) and graphene for the sensing of H2O2 and cholesterol.
Abstract: We describe the development of a highly sensitive amperometric biosensor based on the hybrid material derived from nanoscale Pt particles (nPt) and graphene for the sensing of H2O2 and cholesterol. The biosensing platform was developed using the hybrid material and enzymes cholesterol oxidase and cholesterol esterase. Chemically synthesized graphene has been decorated with nanosized Pt particles. The electron microscopic measurements show that the Pt nanoparticles on graphene have an average size of 12 nm and are randomly distributed throughout the surface. The Pt nanoparticle based hybrid material modified electrode efficiently catalyzes the electrochemical oxidation of H2O2 at the potential of 0.4 V, which is >100 mV less positive with respect to the bulk Pt electrode. The sensing platform is highly sensitive and shows linear response toward H2O2 up to 12 mM with a detection limit of 0.5 nM [S/N (signal-to-noise ratio) = 3] in the absence of any redox mediator or enzyme. The combination of electronicall...

TL;DR: In this article, a solid phase catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride has been presented, where the electrostatic field force has been taken into consideration for the immobilization of precursor ions onto the resin beads.
Abstract: Silver nanoshell-coated cationic polystyrene beads have been synthesized at room temperature through immobilization of specific silver precursor ions, followed by wet chemical reduction. The electrostatic field force has been taken into consideration for the immobilization of precursor ions onto the resin beads. The as-synthesized particles were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, EDX, and FTIR studies and have been exploited as a solid phase catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride. The detailed kinetics of the reduction process was monitored under varied experimental conditions. At the end of the reaction, the catalyst particles remain active. They can thus be separated from the product, 4-aminophenol, and can be recycled a number of times after the quantitative reduction of 4-nitrophenol. The activity of the solid catalyst particles has also been examined to promote the reduction of other nitrophenols, e.g., 2-, 3-nitrophenol. The synthesis of the solid catalyst particles, their applications and detailed kinetic aspects of the reduction of 4-nitrophenol have been reported.

01 Jun 2011TL;DR: In this paper, the AES key can be deduced using a single random byte fault at the input of the eighth round using a two-stage algorithm, with a statistical expectation of reducing the possible key hypotheses to 232 and a mere 28.
Abstract: In this paper we present a differential fault attack that can be applied to the AES using a single fault. We demonstrate that when a single random byte fault is induced at the input of the eighth round, the AES key can be deduced using a two stage algorithm. The first step has a statistical expectation of reducing the possible key hypotheses to 232, and the second step to a mere 28.
