TL;DR: In this article, a magnetic fabric study points out strong preferred orientations of the magnetite grains in the Alous-En-Tides pluton and reveals the regional ENE-WSW stress field during Late Panafrican times.

TL;DR: In this article, the first Sr-O distances are smaller in the silicate glass than in the aluminosilicate glass, which can be related to the different structural role of the element in the glass structure.
Abstract: The environment around Sr in silicate and aluminosilicate glass has been studied by neutron and anomalous x-ray diffraction and reverse Monte Carlo modeling. The first Sr-O distances are smaller in the silicate glass than in the aluminosilicate glass, which can be related to the different structural role of the element in the glass structure. We found Sr-Sr distances at about 4 and 7 \AA{} in both glasses, which implies a nonhomogeneous spatial distribution.

TL;DR: An efficient, single-mode, linearly polarized continuous wave (CW) Raman fiber laser (RFL), operating at 1178 nm, with 65 W maximum output power and a narrow linewidth of 0.1 nm is introduced.
Abstract: We introduce an efficient, single-mode, linearly polarized continuous wave (CW) Raman fiber laser (RFL), operating at 1178 nm, with 65 W maximum output power and a narrow linewidth of 0.1 nm. Single-pass second-harmonic generation was demonstrated using a 20 mm long MgO-doped stoichiometric periodically polled lithium tantalate (MgO:sPPLT) crystal pumped by RFL radiation. Output power of 14 W at 589 nm with 22% conversion efficiency was achieved. The possibility of further power scaling is considered, as no crystal degradation was observed at these power levels.

TL;DR: In this article, the aeromagnetic anomaly map for mainland Portugal shows a clear zonation correlated with the main structural units of the Hercynian foldbelt, and the limits of these zones are in agreement with those described by geologists except for the western border of the CIZ which does not have any magnetic signature.

TL;DR: An integrated geological study, including sedimentology, stable isotope analysis (δ18O, δ13C), geochemistry, micromorphology, biomarker analysis, 40Ar/39Ar geochronology and tephrochronology, was undertaken on the Quaternary infill of the Valle Giumentina basin in Central Italy, which also includes an outstanding archaeological succession, composed of nine human occupation levels ascribed to the Lower and Middle Palaeolithic as mentioned in this paper.
