TL;DR: In this article, the most important features of technical and scientific English in writing about research in the field of science are discussed and examples from published research articles in various fields are included in each chapter.
Abstract: This book is designed to help you learn to use the most important features of technical and scientific English in writing about research in your field. The principal type of writing treated here is the experimental research report, but the information in this book is also relevant to writing research proposals, literature reviews, summaries, abstracts, and especially theses and dissertations. Many of the expressions and grammatical structures presented in these chapters may not be new to you. What will be new are the specific uses of these items in technical writing. These uses are called "conventions" because they are commonly followed by authors in most fields of research. Technical writing in English is very conventional. That is, when you have learned the conventions presented in this book, you will be able to write an acceptable report about almost any research project that you may carry out. Examples from published research articles in various field are included in each ~hapter. These show you how scientists use the language forms you are ~tudymg when they write up their research. Sometimes these examples will mclude technical vocabulary that is new to you. Try not to be distracted by these terms; they should not interfere with your ability to understand the examples or to. appreciate the way these writers use the language conventions you are studymg. We hope, in fact, that you will find these excerpts to be interesting examples of research in many different fields. . In working through this book, you will be asked to find examples of pubhshed research in your area of interest. This is done because we believe that the m?~e you read, the better you will write. You will also be asked to carry out an ongmal research project to put into practice the conventions you are studying. Through these activities of reading, writing, and research practice, you will soon master the language of the experimental research report.

TL;DR: A prototypal system for the dynamic inductive power transmission whose goal is to extend the battery range by a fast partial recharging during the movement of the vehicle is described.
Abstract: The paper discusses the development status of the inductive power transmission for automotive applications. This technology is, in fact, gaining the interest of electric vehicle manufacturers as an effective strategy to improve the market penetration of electric mobility. Starting from the origin of this technology, the paper presents an overview of the current state of the art as well as the current research and industrial projects. Particular attention is devoted to the description of a prototypal system for the dynamic inductive power transmission whose goal is to extend the battery range by a fast partial recharging during the movement of the vehicle.

TL;DR: In this article, the comparability of Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) scores across U.S. and Russian student and community groups was examined, and the costs of failing to meet criteria for weak, strong, and strict measurement invariance were discussed.
Abstract: This study examined the comparability of Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) [Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985, Social Indicators Research, 34: 7–32] scores across U.S. and Russian student and community groups. Criteria for weak measurement invariance were met when comparing U.S. and Russian groups (combining student and community samples). Criteria for weak and strong measurement invariance were met when comparing the U.S. and Russian student samples. However, when comparing the U.S. and Russian community samples, the results showed a significant statistic for a baseline model, indicating a lack of comparability across samples. The costs of failing to meet criteria for weak, strong, and strict measurement invariance are discussed.

TL;DR: The state-of-the-art in unidirectional non-isolated DC-DC Multistage Power Converter (MPC) topologies for FC-VPT application is described and the suitability for different vehicular applications is stated.
Abstract: The automobile companies are focusing on recent technologies such as growing Hydrogen (H2) and Fuel Cell (FC) Vehicular Power Train (VPT) to improve the Tank-To-Wheel (TTW) efficiency. Benefits, the lower cost, ‘Eco’ friendly, zero-emission and high-power capacity, etc. In the power train of fuel cell vehicles, the DC-DC power converters play a vital role to boost the fuel cell stack voltage. Hence, satisfy the demand of the motor and transmission in the vehicles. Several DC-DC converter topologies have proposed for various vehicular applications like fuel cell, battery, and renewable energy fed hybrid vehicles etc. Most cases, the DC-DC power converters are viable and cost-effective solutions for FC-VPT with reduced size and increased efficiency. This article describes the state-of-the-art in unidirectional non-isolated DC-DC Multistage Power Converter (MPC) topologies for FC-VPT application. The paper presented the comprehensive review, comparison of different topologies and stated the suitability for different vehicular applications. This article also discusses the DC-DC MPC applications more specific to the power train of a small vehicle to large vehicles (bus, trucks etc.). Further, the advantages and disadvantages pointed out with the prominent features for converters. Finally, the classification of the DC-DC converters, its challenges, and applications for FC technology is presented in the review article as state-of-the-art in research.

TL;DR: A holistic approach to evaluate the electrical safety of the large-scale EVCSs when coupled to renewable power generation is proposed and will provide informative guidelines to the EVCS operators for continuous monitoring and effective management of the day-to-day EVCS operation.
Abstract: Several safety regulations, particularly concerning the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) are developed to ensure electric safety and prevent hazardous accidents, in which safety requirements for the EV supply equipment (EVSE) and the EV battery are two main driving factors. At present, quantitative assessment of electrical safety considering the operation conditions of large-scale EV charging stations (EVCSs) has still remained a challenge. Driven by the hierarchy of hazard control mechanisms, this article proposes a holistic approach to evaluate the electrical safety of the large-scale EVCSs when coupled to renewable power generation. Our approach mainly focuses on several topics on the operational safety of EVCS primarily concerning: 1) the facility degradation which could potentially result in a compromised EVSE reliability performance and EVCS protection failure; 2) the cyberattack challenges when the smart charging and the communication between EVCSs and electric utilities are enabled; and 3) the potential mismatch between the renewable output and EVCS demand, which could trigger the system stability challenges during normal operation and inability to supply the critical EV loads during outages. The proposed framework will provide informative guidelines to the EVCS operators for continuous monitoring and effective management of the day-to-day EVCS operation.
