TL;DR: An overview of WOA is described in this paper, rooted from the bubble-net hunting strategy, besides an overview ofWOA applications that are used to solve optimization problems in various categories.
Abstract: Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) is an optimization algorithm developed by Mirjalili and Lewis in 2016. An overview of WOA is described in this paper, rooted from the bubble-net hunting strategy, besides an overview of WOA applications that are used to solve optimization problems in various categories. The best solution has been determined to make something as functional and effective as possible through the optimization process by minimizing or maximizing the parameters involved in the problems. Research and engineering attention have been paid to Meta-heuristics for purposes of decision-making given the growing complexity of models and the needs for quick decision making in the engineering. An updated review of research of WOA is provided in this paper for hybridization, improved, and variants. The categories included in the reviews are Engineering, Clustering, Classification, Robot Path, Image Processing, Networks, Task Scheduling, and other engineering applications. According to the reviewed literature, WOA is mostly used in the engineering area to solve optimization problems. Providing an overview and summarizing the review of WOA applications are the aims of this paper.

Abstract: This study investigated the lead ion removal of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH). The main purpose of this work is to study the possibilities on the removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solutions using MWCNTs and MWCNT-COOH surfaces as adsorbents. Removal of Pb(II) ions was investigated using solutions with different concentrations in the range 10 to 100 mg/L. In this study, removal of Pb(II) ions on surfaces has been investigated by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The microstructure of carbon nanotubes were characterized using scanning electron microscopy. Three different kinetic theories were applied to experimental data. The kinetic rates were modeled using the pseudo-first-order, four-type linear pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion. The pseudo-second-order model was found to explain the adsorption kinetics most effectively. The results indicated a significant potential of the multi-walled carbon nanotube as an adsorbent for Pb(II) ion removal.

TL;DR: In this paper, a search for a standard model Higgs boson decaying into a pair of tau leptons is performed using events recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2011 and 2012.
Abstract: A search for a standard model Higgs boson decaying into a pair of tau leptons is performed using events recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2011 and 2012. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 inverse femtobarns at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV and 19.7 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. Each tau lepton decays hadronically or leptonically to an electron or a muon, leading to six different final states for the tau-lepton pair, all considered in this analysis. An excess of events is observed over the expected background contributions, with a local significance larger than 3 standard deviations for m[H] values between 115 and 130 GeV. The best fit of the observed H to tau tau signal cross section for m[H] = 125 GeV is 0.78 +- 0.27 times the standard model expectation. These observations constitute evidence for the 125 GeV Higgs boson decaying to a pair of tau leptons.
