TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the relationship between economic growth and the pressure on nature from the environmental sustainability perspective, and found that the relationship is not linear across countries; the effect is much stronger in middle-income countries than in low-and high income countries.

TL;DR: In this paper, a central composite design including independent variables such as temperature (30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 ǫ) and pH (7.0, 7.5, 8.5 and 9.0) was used to determine optimum conditions for extraction of protein from red pepper seed meal.
Abstract: Response surface methodology was used to determine optimum conditions for extraction of protein from red pepper seed meal. A central composite design including independent variables such as temperature (30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 °C), pH (7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5 and 9.0), extraction time (20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min) and solvent/meal ratio (10:1, 15:1, 20:1, 25:1 and 30:1 v/w) was used. Selected response (dependent variable) which evaluates the extraction process was protein yield and the second-order model obtained for protein yield revealed coefficient of determination of 96.7%. Protein yield was primarily affected by pH and solvent/meal ratio. Maximum yield was obtained when temperature, pH, mixing time and solvent/meal ratio were 31 °C, 8.8, 20 min, 21:1 (v/w), respectively. These conditions resulted in protein yield of 12.24 g of soluble protein from extract/100 g defatted red pepper seed flour. The adequacy of the model was confirmed by extracting the protein under optimum values given by the model. These results help in designing the process of optimal protein extraction from red pepper seeds.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors forecast daily mean, maximum and minimum temperature time series employing three different artificial neural network (ANN) methods and provided the best-fit prediction with the observed actual data using ANN algorithms.
Abstract: Temperature forecasting has been one of the most important factors considered in climate impact studies on sectors of agriculture, vegetation, water resources and tourism. The main purpose of this study is to forecast daily mean, maximum and minimum temperature time series employing three different artificial neural network (ANN) methods and provide the best-fit prediction with the observed actual data using ANN algorithms. The geographical location considered is one of Turkey's most important areas of agricultural production, the Geyve and Sakarya basin, located in the south-east of the Marmara region (40°N and 30°E). The methods chosen in this study are: (1) feed-forward back propagation (FFBP), (2) radial basis function (RBF) and, (3) generalized regression neural network (GRNN). Additionally, predictions with a multiple linear regression (MLR) model were compared to those of the ANN methods. All three different ANN methods provide satisfactory predictions in terms of the selected performance criteria; correlation coefficient (R), root mean square error (RMSE), index of agreement (IA) and the results compared well with the conventional MLR method. TL;DR: In this article, the production of Y(1S), Y(2S), and Y(3S) is investigated in pPb and pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV and 2.76 TeV, respectively.
Abstract: The production of Y(1S), Y(2S), and Y(3S) is investigated in pPb and pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies per nucleon pair of 5.02 TeV and 2.76 TeV, respectively. The datasets correspond to integrated luminosities of about 31 inverse nanobarns (pPb) and 5.4 inverse picobarns (pp), collected in 2013 by the CMS experiment at the LHC. Upsilons that decay into muons are reconstructed within the rapidity interval abs(y[CM]) , are found to rise with both measures of the event activity in pp and pPb. In both collision systems, the ratios of the excited to the ground state cross sections, Y(nS)/Y(1S), are found to decrease with the charged-particle multiplicity, while as a function of the transverse energy the variation is less pronounced. The event activity integrated double ratios, [Y(nS)/Y(1S)][pPb] / [Y(nS)/Y(1S)][pp], are also measured and found to be 0.83 +/- 0.05 (stat.) +/- 0.05 (syst.) and 0.71 +/- 0.08 (stat.) +/- 0.09 (syst.) for Y(2S) and Y(3S), respectively.

TL;DR: Outsourcing can be seen as a strategic way to align technology initiatives and business goals, as a strategy for managing technology operations in today's difficult business environment, and as a way to reduce operating costs as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Outsourcing can be seen as a strategic way to align technology initiatives and business goals, as a strategy for managing technology operations in today's difficult business environment, and as a way to reduce operating costs. Often, companies begin the process by outsourcing non-core business operations, which may include applications, assets, people and other resources. The outsourcing decision is important since the correct selection can dramatically increase a firm's performance. When companies outsource a significant part of their business and become more dependent on outsourcers, the consequences of poor decision making becomes more severe. Since enterprise resource planning (ERP) is one of the vital systems, if not the one, that integrates all functions including planning, manufacturing, distribution, and accounting into a single system, its outsourcing is a very important multi-attribute decision problem for the firms. In the literature, outsourcing decisions are often based on multi-criteria appr...
