Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the possible trends in annual total precipitation series by using the non-parametric methods such as the wavelet analysis and Mann–Kendall test. The wavelet trend (W-T) analysis is for the first time presented in this study. Using discrete wavelet components of measurement series, we aimed to find which periodicities are mainly responsible for trend of the measurement series. We found that some periodic events clearly affect the trend of precipitation series. 16-yearly periodic component is the effective component on Balikesir annual precipitation data and is responsible for producing a real trend founded on the data. Also, global wavelet spectra and continuous wavelet transform were used for analysis to precipitation time series in order to clarify time-scale characteristics of the measured series. The effects of regional differences on W-T analysis are checked by using records of measurement stations located in different climatic areas. The data set spans from 1929 to 1993 and includes precipitation records from meteorological stations of Turkey. The trend analysis on DW components of the precipitation time series (W-T model) clearly explains the trend structure of data.

Abstract: Despite extensive recent reports on combinatorially selected inorganic-binding peptides and their bionanotechnological utility as synthesizers and molecular linkers, there is still only limited knowledge about the molecular mechanisms of peptide binding to solid surfaces. There is, therefore, much work that needs to be carried out in terms of both the fundamentals of solid-binding kinetics of peptides and the effects of peptide primary and secondary structures on their recognition and binding to solid materials. Here we discuss the effects of constraints imposed on FliTrx-selected gold-binding peptide molecular structures upon their quantitative gold-binding affinity. We first selected two novel gold-binding peptide (AuBP) sequences using a FliTrx random peptide display library. Abstract: Trend analysis occupy a significant role in the climate change studies for almost three decades. It is significant to try and identify monotonic trends in a given time series so as to make future predictions about the possible consequences on the urban environment, water resources, agriculture, and many other socioeconomic aspects of life. Although there are now classically accepted and frequently used trend tests in the open literature, such as Mann-Kendall trend analysis and Spearman’s rho test, they are based on some restrictive assumptions as normality, serial independence, and rather long sample sizes. Also, they search for a single monotonic trend without any specification such as low, medium, and high values, which may have different trend patterns. Many climatological records have serial dependence, and therefore, it is very helpful to provide a methodology that is not affected from such a restriction.
