Abstract: Non-homogeneous velocity distribution of the flow in the channel of a single-screw extruder is taken into account by a new model developed on the basis of the Markov chains. This model allows calculating the Residence Time Distribution (RTD) as well as the influence of the operating conditions on the process at any velocity distribution in the channel. It has been used to represent experimental results on mass flow rate and RTD previously obtained by extrusion of an acrylic polymer, Eudragit E100, at different temperatures and screw rotation speeds. The diffusion coefficient is the only adjusting parameter of the model. It was shown that it does not depend on the screw rotation speed and a correlation between this diffusion coefficient and the barrel temperature was found. The model provides global understanding of the transport kinetics of the flowing material through the extruder according to its behaviour and better describes the progress of the polymer flow all along the barrel from the hopper to the die.

TL;DR: In this article, the equations of motion for a charged particle in an electric field featuring a stationary and an oscillating component are considered for the case where the force of friction is linear in the particle velocity.
Abstract: The equations of motion for a charged particle in an electric field featuring a stationary and an oscillating component are considered for the case where the force of friction is linear in the particle velocity. The averaging of these equations over the period of field oscillations is legitimate under some specific conditions. The most general expression for an additional stationary force acting on the particle under these conditions is derived, and the limiting values of this force are found. Applications of the results obtained in the present study are considered. Such applications include the use of pulsed currents in the electrochemical dimensional treatment of materials.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors deal with theoretical problems of analysis of forced harmonic vibrations in liquid-saturated porous structures and derive the differential equations of motion written for the vector of the solid phase displacements and the liquid phase pressure from the equations of phase component dynamics and the constitutive equations of anisotropic continuum.
Abstract: The paper deals with theoretical problems of analysis of forced harmonic vibrations in liquid-saturated porous structures. The differential equations of motion written for the vector of the solid phase displacements and the liquid phase pressure are derived from the equations of phase component dynamics and the constitutive equations of anisotropic continuum. An example of transverse vibrations of a porous framing is used to study the influence of material constants on the dynamic characteristics of a poroelastic system. It is shown that an increase in the excitation frequency significantly increases the effect of inertial interaction between the phases of the poroelastic material, especially for the amplitudes of the liquid pressure in the pores. Thus, to obtain exact solutions of problems of poroelastic material dynamics, it is necessary to take into account all types of interaction between the solid and liquid phases of heterogenous materials.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of a corona discharge on magnetic properties and domain structure of iron garnet films was investigated. But the results of the experiments were limited to the case where negative oxygen ions and the formation of an electret state were used.
Abstract: Experimental investigations of the influence of a corona discharge on magnetic properties and domain structure of iron garnet films are conducted. We show that changes in the physical properties of iron garnet films due to a corona discharge result from the injection of negative oxygen ions and the formation of an electret state.

TL;DR: In this paper, the possibility of using an H-cationite column for measuring the electric conductivity of an Hcationized sample of boiler water over a long period of time is shown.
Abstract: Results of industrial tests of the new method used for the automatic chemical control of the quality of boiler water of the drum-type power boiler (P d = 13.8 MPa) are described. The possibility of using an H-cationite column for measuring the electric conductivity of an H-cationized sample of boiler water over a long period of time is shown.

TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of the performance of the water pretreatment plant used at the TETs-5 cogeneration station operated by the Kirov Branch of OAO TGK-5 and from tests of clarifiers under the conditions of the existing technology are presented.
Abstract: Results from an analysis of the performance of the water pretreatment plant used at the TETs-5 cogeneration station operated by the Kirov Branch of OAO TGK-5 and from tests of clarifiers under the conditions of the existing technology are presented. Data obtained from laboratory studies of the properties of flocculants under local conditions are presented and their efficiency is estimated.
