Abstract: Recently, a generalized gravity theory was proposed by Harko et al. where the Lagrangian density is an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar R and the trace of the stress-energy tensor T, known as F(R,T) gravity. In their derivation of the field equations, they have not considered conservation of the stress-energy tensor. In the present work, we have shown that a part of the arbitrary function f(R,T) can be determined if we take into account of the conservation of stress-energy tensor, although the form of the field equations remain similar. For homogeneous and isotropic model of the universe the field equations are solved and corresponding cosmological aspects has been discussed. Finally, we have studied the energy conditions in this modified gravity theory both generally and a particular case of perfect fluid with constant equation of state.

Abstract: Heart disease is one of the major health problems of advanced as well as developing countries of the world. Extensive research through the last decade has shown beyond doubt that free radicals, particularly, reactive oxygen species play a cardinal role in the pathogenesis of oxidative myocardial damage with consequential cardiac malfunction. This review presents a comprehensive account of the present day knowledge regarding the oxygen free radicals involved in the genesis of ischemic heart disease, the mechanism(s) of oxidative myocardial damage and the endogenous as well as exogenous antioxidant defense systems. Furthermore, the role of ischemic pre-conditioning, some antioxidants and the ability of some cardioprotective drugs in providing protection against the ischemic myocardial damage are also discussed. The text of the article comes to an end with a commentary on the future research perspective in the concerned area, which throws a light on the development of combinatorial therapeutics in the treatment of ischemic myocardial disease.

Abstract: Influence of machining parameters, viz., spindle speed, depth of cut and feed rate, on the quality of surface produced in CNC end milling is investigated. In the present study, experiments are conducted for three different workpiece materials to see the effect of workpiece material variation in this respect. Five roughness parameters, viz., centre line average roughness, root mean square roughness, skewness, kurtosis and mean line peak spacing have been considered. The second-order mathematical models, in terms of the machining parameters, have been developed for each of these five roughness parameters prediction using response surface method on the basis of experimental results. The roughness models as well as the significance of the machining parameters have been validated with analysis of variance. It is found that the response surface models for different roughness parameters are specific to workpiece materials. An attempt has also been made to obtain optimum cutting conditions with respect to each of the five roughness parameters considered in the present study with the help of response optimization technique.
