TL;DR: In this paper, a thermally tunable band-stop filter which is capable of stopping unique wavelength channels without causing any interference among equally spaced wavelength channels of full width at half maximum of 1 nm each as per the requirement of wavelength division multiplexing standards adopted by the International Telecommunication Union specifying channel spacing in terms of frequency.
Abstract: By studying temperature-dependent dispersion characteristics and group velocity of 1D ternary photonic crystal (TPC) composed of dielectric-superconductor-dielectric materials, a thermally tunable band-stop filter which is capable of stopping unique wavelength channels without causing any interference amongst equally spaced wavelength channels of full width at half maximum of 1 nm each as per the requirement of wavelength division multiplexing standards adopted by the International Telecommunication Union specifying channel spacing in terms of frequency (wavelength) is suggested. The proposed structure can efficiently work as a two-channel wavelength selective switch for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)-based all-optical networks. This study also gives theoretical insight to design some new kind of optical memories and tunable buffers which holds data temporary and have potential applications in modern communication systems.

01 Aug 2018TL;DR: A sign interpreter, which automatically converts sign language into audio output is proposed, which helps the dumb people in communication with the rest of the world at low cost.
Abstract: Taking huge leaps in technologies with each passing year, the humans are making smart inventions every year to help themselves and for the ones who are affected by any disability. We aim to make the communication for dumb people easy and hence proposing a sign interpreter, which automatically converts sign language into audio output. For the dumb people, sign language is the only way of communication. With the help of sign language, physically impaired people express their thoughts to the other people. It is difficult for common people to understand the specific sign language therefore communication becomes difficult. The sign language recognition has become an empirical task, as it consists of various movements and gesture of the hands and therefore getting the right accuracy at a low-cost is a mammoth task. Instrumented gloves with audio out are the solution to this problem. The gloves attached with various sensors are worn for sign interpretation. Hence, the proposed system solves the problem and helps the dumb people in communication with the rest of the world at low cost.

TL;DR: Thermodynamic studies indicated a non-spontaneous (ΔG > 0) and endothermic reaction process and thermodynamic activation parameters, such as Ea, ΔH#, ΔG# and ΔS#, were also studied.
Abstract: Polyphenol oxidase from Amorphophallus corm was purified (5.54 fold) by acetone precipitation and ion exchange chromatography. Electrophoretic-blot analysis revealed that the molecular weight of enzyme is 40 kDa. Enzyme preferred catechol as substrate and showed optimum activity at pH 6 and 35 °C with Km of 17.56 mM and Vmax 0.023 U/ml/min. Thermal inactivation kinetics study showed that 5.68% inactivation was achieved at 75 °C within 40 min. The half-life time of PPO is between 126.00 and 32.54 min. The activation energy (Ea) and Z values are 64.22 kJ/mol and 34.01 °C, respectively. The inhibitory action of L-ascorbic acid, sodium azide, NaCl, CaCl2, ZnSO4 and EDTA were studied. Thermodynamic studies indicated a non-spontaneous (ΔG > 0) and endothermic reaction process. Other thermodynamic activation parameters, such as Ea, ΔH#, ΔG# and ΔS#, were also studied. Amorphophallus paeoniifolius polyphenol oxidase can find application in baking industry.
