TL;DR: In this article, coherent pulsations from the ultraluminous X-ray source NGC 7793 P13 were detected in archived XMM-Newton data taken in 2013 and 2014.
Abstract: We report the detection of coherent pulsations from the ultraluminous X-ray source NGC 7793 P13. The ~0.42s nearly sinusoidal pulsations were initially discovered in broadband X-ray observations using XMM-Newton and NuSTAR taken in 2016. We subsequently also found pulsations in archival XMM-Newton data taken in 2013 and 2014. The significant (>>5 sigma) detection of coherent pulsations demonstrates that the compact object in P13 is a neutron star with an observed peak luminosity of ~1e40 erg/s (assuming isotropy), well above the Eddington limit for a 1.4 M_sun accretor. This makes P13 the second ultraluminous X-ray source known to be powered by an accreting neutron star. The pulse period varies between epochs, with a slow but persistent spin up over the 2013-2016 period. This spin-up indicates a magnetic field of B ~ 1.5e12 G, typical of many accreting pulsars. The most likely explanation for the extreme luminosity is a high degree of beaming, however this is difficult to reconcile with the sinusoidal pulse profile.

TL;DR: The kinetic scaling laws with exponents observed here are consistent with topologically allowed annihilation events involving multiple disclinations, and may lead to the successful application of block copolymer lithography.
Abstract: We have studied the ordering dynamics of the striped patterns of a single layer of cylindrical block copolymer microdomains in a thin film. By tracking disclinations during annealing with time-lapse atomic force microscopy, we observe a dominant mechanism of disclination annihilation involving three or four disclinations (quadrupoles). Pairwise disclination annihilation events are suppressed as a result of the topological constraints in this system. The kinetic scaling laws with exponents observed here are consistent with topologically allowed annihilation events involving multiple disclinations. The results provide insight into two-dimensional pattern formation and may lead to the successful application of block copolymer lithography.

TL;DR: Ulysses solar wind plasma data from the peak southerly latitude of −80.2° on 12 September 1994 through the corresponding northerly latitude on 31 July 1995 were presented in this paper.
Abstract: We present Ulysses solar wind plasma data from the peak southerly latitude of −80.2° on 12 September 1994 through the corresponding northerly latitude on 31 July 1995. Ulysses encountered fast wind throughout this time except for a 43° band centered on the solar equator. Median mass flux was nearly constant with latitude, while speed and density had positive and negative poleward gradients, respectively. Solar wind momentum flux was highest at high latitudes, suggesting a latitudinal asymmetry in the heliopause cross section. Solar wind energy flux density was also highest at high latitudes.

TL;DR: This system and other binary near-Earth asteroids have spheroidal primaries spinning near the breakup point for strengthless bodies, suggesting that the binaries formed by spin-up and fission, probably as a result of tidal disruption during close planetary encounters, may be binary systems.
Abstract: Radar images of near-Earth asteroid 2000 DP107 show that it is composed of an approximately 800-meter-diameter primary and an approximately 300-meter-diameter secondary revolving around their common center of mass. The orbital period of 1.755 +/- 0.007 days and semimajor axis of 2620 +/- 160 meters constrain the total mass of the system to 4.6 +/- 0.5 x 10(11) kilograms and the bulk density of the primary to 1.7 +/- 1.1 grams per cubic centimeter. This system and other binary near-Earth asteroids have spheroidal primaries spinning near the breakup point for strengthless bodies, suggesting that the binaries formed by spin-up and fission, probably as a result of tidal disruption during close planetary encounters. About 16% of near-Earth asteroids larger than 200 meters in diameter may be binary systems.
