TL;DR: An unusual case of HGF with severe bony involvement in a young patient with hereditary gingival fibromatosis is presented.
Abstract: Gingival enlargement, either localized or generalized might be attributed to a number of reasons, ranging from inflammation, leukemic infiltration, and association with use drugs. Idiopathic or hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) is an uncommon condition of the gingival tissues which is characterized by enlargement of the free and attached gingivae. This report presents an unusual case of HGF with severe bony involvement in a young patient.

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of Schiff bases 1-11, the derivatives of 2-aryl-1H-benzimidazole has been synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against the cells of human cancer cell lines, namely K-562 (myelogenous leukemia) and HL-60 (promyelocytic leukemia).
Abstract: One of the most important goals in medicinal chemistry is the development of new heterocyclic compounds with antitumor activity. Thus, a novel series of Schiff bases 1-11, the derivatives of 2-aryl-1H-benzimidazole has been synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against the cells of human cancer cell lines, namely K-562 (myelogenous leukemia) and HL-60 (promyelocytic leukemia). Among the compounds tested against K-562 cell line, compounds 1, 7 and 10 showed potent activity and the compound 5 exhibited better activity against HL-60 cell line.

TL;DR: The n-butanolic fraction of T. foenum-graecum (Linn.) seed extract significantly reduced the level of antioxidant enzymes as well as membrane stabilizing markers, which may be due to both stabilizing actions of membrane marker enzymes or inhibition of oxidative free radicals.
Abstract: Objective: The present study was aimed to assess the anti-arthritic activity of petroleum ether and n-butanolic fraction of Trigonella foenum-graecum (Linn.) seed extract against Freund’s complete adjuvant induced arthritis in rats. Materials and Methods: Methanolic extract of T. foenum-graecum (Linn.) seeds were fractionated in various organic solvents and on the basis of results of in vitro protein denaturation and proteinase inhibitory activity (data not shown here), petroleum ether and n-butanolic fractions were selected for anti-arthritic activity. The active petroleum ether and n-butanolic fraction were administered at the dose of 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight. The effects of both fractions on liver alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase levels and malondialdehyde, glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) from articular cartilages in arthritic animals were studied. Prednisolone (10 mg/kg) was used as a standard. Results: In arthritic rats, the petroleum ether and n-butanolic fraction showed a highly significant reduction in paw volume (100 mg/kg - 68.37 and 75.21%) (P<0.01, 0.001). Membrane marker enzymes and oxidative free radicals were significantly decreased in the both fraction treated groups and GSH and SOD activities were significantly increased compared with the arthritic control. Among these two active fractions, n-butanolic fraction showed best activity as compared to petroleum ether fraction. Conclusion: The n-butanolic fraction of T. foenum-graecum (Linn.) seed extract significantly reduced the level of antioxidant enzymes as well as membrane stabilizing markers. The possible mechanism may be due to both stabilizing actions of membrane marker enzymes or inhibition of oxidative free radicals

TL;DR: Treatment of a 12 - year old male with generalized aggressive periodontitis consisted of thorough training in techniques of plaque control, scaling and root planning and administration of tetracycline 250 mg every six hours for three weeks, as well as combined surgery and antibiotic therapy.
Abstract: Aggressive periodontitis which is an uncommon condition is characterized by severe loss of attachment and destruction of alveolar bone around one or more permanent teeth during the period of pubescence. Aggressive periodontitis have localized and generalized forms. It is currently believed that combination of bacteriologic, immunologic and hereditary factors are of major importance in the etiology of this disease. The case was of a 12 - year old male and his clinical and radiographic findings were typical for generalized aggressive periodontitis. Treatment consisted of thorough training in techniques of plaque control, scaling and root planning and administration of tetracycline 250 mg every six hours for three weeks, as well as combined surgery and antibiotic therapy. But both failed to cure or control the disease mostly because of the non-cooperation with the oral hygiene instructions.

TL;DR: Study finding revealed that both boys and girls in the age group of six to 18 years were equally vulnerable to dropouts, and understanding the socio-demographic characteristics of the parents of school dropout children would be advantageous to improve retention in government schools.
Abstract: Free and compulsory education to all children up to the age of fourteen years is the commitment of the Constitution of India The governments of India and state governments have initiated a number of programmes to achieve the goal of universalization of elementary education Among them Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is the recent addition According to the handbook of education statistics (2013-14), 382 per cent of children in the state who had enrolled in Class I did not reach Class X and were thus, deprived of basic education To improve retention in government schools, understanding the socio-demographic characteristics of the parents of school dropout children would be advantageous For the purposes of the study, a field survey was conducted in 18 villages of six rural Mandals of Mahbubnagar district with a sample of 401 respondents Study finding revealed that both boys and girls in the age group of six to 18 years were equally vulnerable to dropouts About 90 per cent of the school dropout children were from the government schools and three in five children in the age group of 15 to 18 years were dropped out from the school
