Abstract: Using various methods (currency demand, physical input (electricity) method, model approach), which are discussed and criticized, estimates of the size of the shadow economy in 76 developing, transition and OECD-countries are presented. The average size of a shadow economy varies from 12 percent of GDP for OECD, to 23 percent for transition and to 39 percent for developing countries. An increasing burden of taxation and social security contributions combined with rising state regulatory activities are the driving forces for the increase of the shadow economy especially in OECD-countries. According to some findings, a growing shadow economy has a negative effect on official GDP growth, and a positive impact of corruption on the size of the shadow economy can be found.

TL;DR: The msa package, for the first time, provides a unified R interface to the popular multiple sequence alignment algorithms ClUSTalW, ClustalOmega and MUSCLE, which requires no additional software and runs on all major platforms.
Abstract: UNLABELLED Although the R platform and the add-on packages of the Bioconductor project are widely used in bioinformatics, the standard task of multiple sequence alignment has been neglected so far. The msa package, for the first time, provides a unified R interface to the popular multiple sequence alignment algorithms ClustalW, ClustalOmega and MUSCLE. The package requires no additional software and runs on all major platforms. Moreover, the msa package provides an R interface to the powerful package shade which allows for flexible and customizable plotting of multiple sequence alignments. AVAILABILITY AND IMPLEMENTATION msa is available via the Bioconductor project: http://bioconductor.org/packages/release/bioc/html/msa.html. Further information and the R code of the example presented in this paper are available at http://www.bioinf.jku.at/software/msa/.

TL;DR: The OFETs and complementary-like inverters are among the best reported organic devices to date, in terms of mobility, voltage gain, symmetry, p-and n-type channel balance, low operating voltage window and high ON/OFF ratio as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: strong intermolecular interactions and with reversible reduction and oxidation reactions characterized by means of optical, electrical, and morphological investigations on thin indigo fi lms. The OFETs and complementary-like inverters are among the best reported organic devices to date, in terms of mobility, voltage gain, symmetry, p- and n-type channel balance, low operating voltage window and high ON/OFF ratio. Moreover, these devices show that high performance electronics can be fabricated entirely from non-toxic, biodegradable, and extremely cheap materials.

TL;DR: In this paper, tax morale and countries' institutional quality affect the shadow economy, controlling in a multivariate analysis for a variety of potential factors, finding strong support that a higher tax morale, and a higher institutional quality lead to a smaller shadow economy.
