TL;DR: The demonstration that by applying the proposed method of cover truncation and analogical matching, called TRUNC, one may drastically decrease the complexity of the knowledge base without affecting its performance accuracy is demonstrated.
Abstract: AQ15 is a multi-purpose inductive learning system that uses logic-based, user-oriented knowledge representation, is able to incrementally learn disjunctive concepts from noisy or overlapping examples, and can perform constructive induction (i.e., can generate new attributes in the process of learning). In an experimental application to three medical domains, the program learned decision rules that performed at the level of accuracy of human experts. A surprising and potentially significant result is the demonstration that by applying the proposed method of cover truncation and analogical matching, called TRUNC, one may drastically decrease the complexity of the knowledge base without affecting its performance accuracy.

TL;DR: Vaginal and anal sensory thresholds as well as periurethral sphincter muscle motor thresholds were determined in a group of neurologically healthy patients, and an 0.2 ms pulse duration was found to have the optimum pulse charge/pulse duration and pulse energy/p pulse duration relationship.
Abstract: Vaginal and anal sensory thresholds as well as periurethral sphincter muscle motor thresholds were determined in a group of neurologically healthy patients, and an 0.2 ms pulse duration was found to have the optimum pulse charge/pulse duration and pulse energy/pulse duration relationship. This is significant for further studies of therapeutic stimulation for urinary incontinence, where a pulse duration of around 1 ms is now commonly used.

Abstract: We have presented the first experimental data of the temperature dependence of e′c and e″c for Rb1−x (NH4)x H2AsO4. The results are demonstrated by the presence of a glassy state in Rb1−x (NH4)x H2AsO4 for x = 0.31.

TL;DR: A modified HCl-leach method for the radiochemical 90Sr and 89Sr determination in soil has been developed in this paper, where the sample is leached by HCl in the presence of the Sr-carrier.
Abstract: A modified HCl-leach method for the radiochemical 90Sr and 89Sr determination in soil has been developed. The sample is leached by HCl in the presence of the Sr-carrier. Then bi- and trivalent ions are separated by a combination of complexation and ion exchange. The separation of strontium and calcium is performed by fuming nitric acid. After further purification, strontium carbonate is precipitated and the activity of 90Sr and 89Sr is measured. 90Sr determined by the isolation of 90Y and by measuring its activity. The 90Sr and 89Sr content in soil is calculated from the measured activities of yttrium oxide and strontium carbonate by considering the counting efficiencies for 90Y, 90Sr and 89Sr beta rays, the chemical yields of strontium and yttrium and the time of 90Y growth from 90Sr.

TL;DR: In this article, the root mean square phase fluctuations decrease from ≃ 30-50° at T 1 - T = 1 K to less than σ ≈ 20° at t 1 -T = 4 K. Theoretical analysis is based on a realistic model which considers linear and quadratic term in the relation between frequency and nuclear displacement.
Abstract: Floating of the incommensurate modulation wave partially averages out dispersion of NQR signals in Rb2ZnCl4. Theoretical analysis is based on a realistic model which considers linear and quadratic term in the relation betwen the frequency and nuclear displacement. Measurable effects are limited to a relatively narrow interval (∼ 5 K) just below the transition (T 1) from the paraelectric into the incommensurate state. The root mean square phase fluctuations decrease from ≃ 30–50° at T 1 - T = 1 K to less than σ ≈ 20° at T 1 - T = 4 K.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple design procedure for the nonlinear compensator which linearises the non-linear part in Hammerstein processes on the basis of inversion of the static characteristic is described.
Abstract: A simple design procedure for the nonlinear compensator which linearises the nonlinear part in Hammerstein processes on the basis of inversion of the static characteristic is described. It leads to easier tuning of the dynamic controller and improved system transient behaviour. This is confirmed by its application to level control.

TL;DR: A method for 210Po and 210Pb determination in water samples is described in this article, where the nuclides are concentrated, in presence of added 208Po and lead carrier, by evaporation.
Abstract: A method for210Po and210Pb determination in water samples is described. The nuclides are concentrated, in presence of added208Po and lead carrier, by evaporation. Then the polonium is plated electroless from the acidic solution on a copper planchet and measured by alpha spectrometry.210Pb separation from the other isotopes is based on the solutility of PbSO4 in citrate.210Pb content is determined by measuring the activity of its daughter210Bi. The critical steps in the isolation of lead have been examined and discussed.

Abstract: The existence of fast electron exchange between pairs of Fe3+⇄Fe2+ ions was detected in Mossbauer spectra of non-stoichiometric CoNiZn ferrites containing an excess of Fe2O3. Analysis of spectra from a number of samples of various preparations showed correlation of bulk magnetic properties with hyperfine parameters of ferric ions at octahedral sites in the spinel structure.

TL;DR: The effect of the degree of iodination on the enzymatic activity of two enzymes, phospholipase A2 (fraction k1) and cathepsin D, was studied.
Abstract: The effect of the degree of iodination on the enzymatic activity of two enzymes, phospholipase A2 (fraction k1) and cathepsin D, was studied. The compounds were labelled with131I3 and131ICI 2 − prepared by electrolysis at a controlled electrode potential. To avoid excessive denaturation of the enzyme, the electrophilic reagent was produced separately and added to the enzyme solution. Unreacted iodine species were removed by means of gel chromatography on Sephadex G-25. Enzymes were also radioiodinated by a chemical method, using chloramine T as oxidant, the results being compared with those obtained by the electrochemical method.

Abstract: Mossbauer data have been obtained from both the57Fe and119Sn isotopes for BaFe4Sn2O11. Variable temperature studies show that magnetic ordering occurs at ∼ 77K and is probably complete at 4K. Average hyperfine fields of 504kG and 45kG were observed at the iron and tin nuclei respectively.

TL;DR: Three attempts to implement AI methods in CAD, CAT and CAPP using a modified A* algorithm and a rule-based program for a simulation of PCB’s.
Abstract: We present three attempts to implement AI methods in CAD, CAT and CAPP. The first approach is an implementation of a modified A* algorithm in the process of routing of printed circuit boards (PCB’s). The second approach consists of a rule-based program for a simulation of PCB’s, whereas the last one is an expert system for process planning (CAPP).
