TL;DR: B. subtilis is certified as generally recognized as safe by Food and Drug Administration and features in the European Food Safety Authority Qualified Presumption of Safety, hence suggesting as safe for human use.
Abstract: Probiotics are the living microorganisms that provide health benefits to the recipient. Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium genera have been used since long for the competitive exclusion of pathogens from the gut. However, their limitations such as sensitivity to gastric acid, temperature, slow growth, and specific stability conditions lead to search for a novel probiotic that is stable through its shelf-life as well as during gastrointestinal transit; hence, offering better efficacy. Bacillus bacteria have strong scientific data which substantiates the validity of the use as preferred probiotics. In recent times, there has been significant progress in scientific evaluation and studies on probiotic Bacillus subtilis , revealing possible mechanisms of action like antimicrobial effect by synthesis of antimicrobial substances, antidiarrheal effect, immunostimulatory effect, competitive exclusion of pathogens, prevention of intestinal inflammation, and normalization of intestinal flora. Numerous preclinical and clinical studies on B. subtilis have shown its promising efficacy in the treatment and prevention of diarrhea of various etiologies. B. subtilis is certified as generally recognized as safe by Food and Drug Administration and features in the European Food Safety Authority Qualified Presumption of Safety, hence suggesting as safe for human use. All of these beneficial attributes make B. subtilis the most attractive probiotic species for various clinical conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a potential paraffin-degrading organism from oil wells of Gujarat was identified as Nocardia farcinica by 16S rRNA sequencing, which showed 100% degradation of heneicosane, 65.99 % degradation of docosane and 50.59 % degradation in 8 days.
Abstract: Microbial degradation of paraffin wax is an efficient method of removing wax deposition from pipelines and enhancing the flow rate of crude oil. The present study was carried out to isolate a potential paraffin-degrading organism from oil wells of Gujarat. Screening for bacteria-utilizing paraffin wax as the sole source of carbon was carried out using 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol (DCPIP) dye as redox indicator. The selected organism was identified as Nocardia farcinica by 16S rRNA sequencing. Nocardia farcinica showed 100% degradation of heneicosane, 65.99% degradation of docosane, and 50.59% degradation of tricosane, the major components of paraffin wax, in 8 days, which was observed by gas chromatography. Eicosane (86%) and heneicosane (80%) were utilized more by the selected organism compared with octacosane (61%) and triacontane (58%) (DCPIP dye method). Gas chromatographic analysis revealed that the selected organism degraded 50% of paraffin crude oil in 10 days. To determine the ability of ...

TL;DR: In this article, the extent of awareness, attitudes and purchase behavior among consumers for green homes in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat State of India was assessed and the chi-square statistics also found that income, occupation and education plays important role in green purchase behavior.
Abstract: Green Marketing has fast emerged as a worldwide phenomenon around the world. As a result, many firms have risen to the occasion and started responding to environmental challenges by practicing green marketing strategies. Green consumerism has played a catalytic role in making business firms green marketing oriented. The infrastructure and construction industry in India is the second largest rapidly growing industry and the single largest contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. To keep a check on environmental harm caused by this industry, the concept of Green Buildings has been evolved. This paper assesses the extent of awareness, attitudes and purchase behaviour among consumers for green homes in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat State of India. It is found that awareness for green homes among the respondents is high and majority of respondents believe that purchasing a green home will contribute to a sustainable future. However, they reported to be cautious while considering green features during purchase of a green home due to uncertainty on the way builders are following standards for building a green home. More than average respondents are agree to pay premium if it is less than 5% more for green homes compared to conventional homes. The chi-square statistics also found that income, occupation and education plays important role in green purchase behavior.
