Abstract: This article focuses on the issue of social support received by students of music schools in the context of their musical achievements. The theoretical part of this article contains the characteristics of factors related to the musical achievements of students; the support they receive from their environment is essential for their success in the process of musical education and their subsequent artistic career, in addition to their musical abilities and traits of personality. The research part is devoted to detailed analysis of the support level received by music school students and its correlation to their level of musical achievement. Social support is analysed with a view to its structure, distinguishing the following kinds of support: emotional, evaluative, informative and instrumental received from people who are significant to the music school student and indicates the essential presence of support in the process of musical achievement. Moreover, as part of the presentation of the study, the authors introduce their original tool for measuring social support tailored to the realities of music schools – the Scale of Social Support of the Students of Music Schools (Gluska, 2011). This tool may be applied in the work of educational psychologists and teachers in music schools.

Abstract: Peripheral populations may be crucial for understanding processes underlying adaptive genetic variation. Their evolution and ecology are driven by various genetic and demographic processes, such as selection, gene flow and bottleneck. Peripheral populations often experience a reduction in density resulting in the Allee effect. The presence of interfertile species increases the opportunity for hybridisation, which allows for a rescue from the Allee effect, but at the risk of genetic extinction through introgression. In this article we investigated a peripheral population of Quercus pubescens, a European tree species. The study population is located in Poland, several hundred kilometres northwards from the main species range. Due to geographic separation, the study population exists under strong pressure of introgression from potentially inter-fertile Q. petraea and Q. robur, which are the only common oaks in Poland. The intermediate morphology between typical Q. pubescens and a common oak species found in the study population supports the introgression hypothesis, which could be in line with the earlier studies of this species complex conducted in the main range of Q. pubescens. Alternatively, the intermediate morphology could reflect the founder effect or selection at an ecological extreme. We attempted to verify these hypotheses using microsatellites and a reference of common oak species. The results showed that the study population is genetically distinct from both Q. petraea and Q. robur. Additionally, the population is characterised by a low effective population size and limited gene dispersal. This suggests that the study population reveals strong reproductive isolation from common species, implying alternative sources of atypical morphology.

Abstract: Recently, a dynamic increase in the number of polymer elements ending their life cycle has been observed. There are three main ways of dealing with polymer waste: reuse in an unchanged form, recycling (both material and energy), and disposal (mainly in the form of landfilling or incineration). The legislation of European countries promotes in particular two forms of waste management: reuse and recycling. Recycling processes are used to recover materials and energy especially from contaminated waste, which are structurally changed by other materials, friction, temperature, machine, process, etc. The recycling of polymers, especially of multi-plastic structural elements, requires the use of special technological installations and a series of preparatory operations, including crushing and separating. Due to the universality and necessity of materials processing in recycling engineering, in particular size reduction, the aim of this study is to organize and systematize knowledge about shredding in the recycling process of end-of-life polymeric materials. This could help properly design these processes in the context of sustainable development and circular economy. Firstly, an overview of the possibilities of end-of-life plastics management was made, and the meaning of shredding in the end-of-life pathways was described. Then, the development of comminution in recycling processes was presented, with special emphasis given to quasi-cutting as the dominant mode of comminution of polymeric materials. The phenomenon of quasi-cutting, as well as factors related to the material, the operation of the shredding machine, and the technological process affecting it were described. Research conducted on quasi-cutting as a phenomenon when cutting single material samples and quasi-cutting as a machine process was characterized. Then, issues regarding recycling potentials in the context of shredding were systematized. Considerations included the areas of material, technical, energy, human, and control potentials. Presented bases and models can be used to support the innovation of creative activities, i.e., environmentally friendly actions, that produce specific positive environmental results in the mechanical processing of recycled and reused materials. The literature survey indicates the need to explore the environmental aspect of the shredding process in recycling and connect the shredding process variables with environmental consequences. This will help to design and control the processes to get the lowest possible environmental burdens.

Abstract: We outline basic notions and assumptions related to the Ordered Fuzzy Number (OFN) model. Definitions of mathematical operations, several interpretations of their results, as well as additional OFN parameters are presented. Some of them, such as inclination or order, are specific to OFNs, whereas others are equivalent to those present in the well-known convex fuzzy number model. An important aspect of this part is also a discussion of algebraic properties of the OFN model.
