TL;DR: Mites of two groups, Oribatida and Mesostigmata, were studied in a broadleaf forest in western Norway, where 15 of the oribatid species were first records for Norway, including six new to Fennoscandia.
Abstract: Broadleaf forests are rare in Norway and they are considered one of the most biodiverse terrestrial habitats in Fennoscandia. These forests are poorly studied in terms of their acarofauna. Mites of two groups, Oribatida and Mesostigmata, were studied in a broadleaf forest in western Norway. In total, 6350 oribatid mites, representing 67 species (i.e., 25% of the known Norwegian species) and 559 mesostigmatid mites representing 22 species (9% of the species recorded from Norway) were collected. The mean densities of Oribatida and Mesostigmata were 454 and 40 individuals per 0.5 dm3, respectively. The most abundant member of Oribatida was Oribatula exilis (29% of Oribatida collected), while Zercon lindrothi made up 59% of Mesostigmata. Fifteen of the oribatid species were first records for Norway, including six new to Fennoscandia: Phthiracarus compressus, Suctobelbella arcana, S. hammerae, S. prominens, Campachipteria patavina and Liebstadia longior.

TL;DR: The hypothesis that taking part in supportive social interaction significantly lowers stress levels (measured via cortisol) of infertile couples (men and women) was supported and indicates that a supportiveSocial interaction has a beneficial effect on infertiles couple’s health and well-being.
Abstract: Purpose The aim of the research project was to analyze the importance of supportive social interactions in the process of infertility treatment. The acceptance rates of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) in Poland are lower than in western European countries and the social stigma of infertility exists. The research project draws attention to the issue of disclosure of fertility problems and the ability to seek support in Polish couples. Methods An experimental study was conducted with 51 heterosexual couples who qualified for IVF. The participants were randomly divided into an experimental and control group. The first stage of the research procedure, with all the couples, was to extract a saliva (cortisol) sample as a biomarker for stress. In the second stage the control group viewed an informational (non-emotional) video about human embryology. The experimental group took part in a supportive social interaction process. In the supportive social interaction process, a maximum of five couples, were led through a broad general understanding of their IVF experience by an experienced group psychologist. The third stage of the research involved the second extraction of a saliva (cortisol) sample form all participants. In addition, demographic and medical history related to fertility was collected. Results The statistical analysis indicates a significant decrease in the level of stress experienced after the supportive social interaction. The reported differences between the experimental group and the control group indicated a larger decrease of cortisol level for women and men. Conclusion In the current study, the hypothesis that taking part in supportive social interaction significantly lowers stress levels (measured via cortisol) of infertile couples (men and women) was supported. Further the project indicates that a supportive social interaction has a beneficial effect on infertile couple's health and well-being. The results of the study clearly point to the benefits of couples involved in infertility treatment to express and share their experience, and in doing so, provides measurable physiological and psychological benefits.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compared the luminescence properties of CsI:Tl films with those of pure CsTl (0.3 and 0.03%) and showed that the dominant mechanism of excitation of the strong-off luminecence of localized excitons is the charge-transfer transition between I− anions and Tl+ ions in single and dimer centers.
Abstract: CsI:Tl films have been crystallized by the liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) method from CsI:Tl (0.3 mol.%) crystalline salt onto CsI substrates. The luminescent and scintillation properties of CsI:Tl films are systematically compared with the corresponding properties of CsI:Tl (0.3 and 0.03%) crystals grown from the melt. The luminescence of CsI:Tl films and CsI:Tl (0.03%) crystals in the bands peaked at 2.52 and 2.22 eV is related to the radiative relaxation from the weak-off and strong-off configurations of excitons localized around Tl+ ions, respectively. Apart from single Tl+ centers, in highly doped CsI:Tl (0.3%) crystals creation of Tl+ dimer centers occurs. These centers form the additional emission bands peaked at 2.42 and 1.98 eV related to the weak-off and strong-off configurations of excitons localized around Tl+ dimer centers. We found that the dominant mechanism of excitation of the strong-off luminescence of localized excitons in CsI:Tl films and crystals is the charge-transfer transition between I– anions and Tl+ ions in single and dimer centers.

TL;DR: In this paper, a connected topology T on the set of positive integers whose base consists of all arithmetic progressions connected in Golomb's topology was introduced, and it was shown that all progressions which are connected in T form a basis for the Golomb topology.
Abstract: In this paper we introduce a connected topology T on the set ℕ of positive integers whose base consists of all arithmetic progressions connected in Golomb’s topology. It turns out that all arithmetic progressions which are connected in the topology T form a basis for Golomb’s topology. Further we examine connectedness of arithmetic progressions in the division topology T′ on ℕ which was defined by Rizza in 1993. Immediate consequences of these studies are results concerning local connectedness of the topological spaces (ℕ, T) and (ℕ, T′).
