TL;DR: If there are any possible threats from ORCID’s growing position and the policy to make it mandatory, the paper presents a use-case and raises the question if it is ethical to force anyone to open and register in ORC ID or any other service.
Abstract: ORCID stands for the Open Researcher & Contributor ID. It is both the digital identifier (number) for scientists and researchers, and the name of the non-profit organization. ORCID wanted to solve ...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the geological structure of the Vistula river valley floor as the modifying factor of fluvial processes and present the development conditions of the contemporary Vistulas river channel, which underwent marked transformation due to bed erosion and lateral erosion below the Wloclawek reservoir.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the geological structure of the Vistula river valley floor as the modifying factor of fluvial processes and present the development conditions of the contemporary Vistula river channel, which underwent marked transformation due to bed erosion and lateral erosion below the Wloclawek reservoir. The analysis of the geological data and the geological survey conducted at the study reach of the Vistula between Wloclawek and Torun resulted in an image of the geological structure of the channel bed along the longitudinal profile

TL;DR: In this article, the surface activation properties of polyurethane or epoxy coatings containing copper(I) oxide and copper(II) acetylacetonate or copper hydroxide were evaluated by means of optical imaging, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectrograms.
Abstract: The main aim of this work was to assess the ability of thermogravimetric method to predetermine the surface activation properties of the coatings intended for laser-assisted electroless metallization. In this technique of metallization, surface of polymer material has to be activated before immersing in electroless metallization bath. Surface activation may consist in compositional modification of polymer material and in laser irradiation. In this work, polyurethane or epoxy coatings containing copper(I) oxide and copper(II) acetylacetonate or copper hydroxide were laser irradiated and then electrolessly metallized. Surface activation properties are evaluated usually by means of optical imaging, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In this work, an attempt was made to evaluate these properties based on thermogravimetric measurements.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of obtaining new, cheaper compounds which can substitute polyols in the production of rigid polyurethane-polyisocyanurate foams (PUR-PIR) was described.
Abstract: The article describes the method of obtaining new, cheaper compounds which can substitute polyols in the production of rigid polyurethane-polyisocyanurate foams (PUR-PIR). Rigid PUR-PIR foams were synthesized, using newly obtained tree compounds (citrates with hydroxyl groups): obtained with using catalyst (T-2-HHT + K), without catalyst (T-2-HHT) and (T-5-HHT). New compounds (T-2-HHT + K, T-2-HHT, T-5-HHT) were prepared from citric acid (1 mol) and glycols, respectively: butane-1.2-diol (3 mol and excess of 30 cm3), butane-1.2-diol (3 mol), pentane-1.5-diol (3 mol) by the esterification reaction in the solution. The industrial Rocopol 551, used as polyol, was gradually substituted for the new compounds in the polyol premix in new foams. The three series of rigid polyurethane-polyisocyanurate foams based on T-2-HHT + K, T-2-HHT, T-5-HHT have been synthesized (F1–F16) and W foam without new compound. Its properties have been determined according to the standards. It has been shown that the addition of T-2-HHT + K, T-2-HHT, T-5-HHT to the foams affects the foams’ density. The influence of the abovementioned compounds on foams’ flammability, thermal properties and others was examined. A decrease in foams’ brittleness by 6.9 % and in oxygen index by 24 % was observed. The examined retention was in the range of 80.9–96.5 %.

TL;DR: A comparison of effectiveness of time and frequency descriptors applied in recognition of species of birds by their voices by using three different conceptions of classification - the WEKA system as classical tool, linguistically modelled fuzzy system and artificial neural network.
Abstract: Extraction and detailed analysis of sound files using the MPEG 7 standard descriptors is extensively explored. However, an automatic description of the specific field of sounds of nature still needs an intensive research. This publication presents a comparison of effectiveness of time and frequency descriptors applied in recognition of species of birds by their voices. The results presented here are a continuation of the research/studies on this subject. Three different conceptions of classification - the WEKA system as classical tool, linguistically modelled fuzzy system and artificial neural network were used for testing the descriptors’ effectiveness. The analysed sounds of birds come from 10 different species of birds: Corn Crake, Hawk, Blackbird, Cuckoo, Lesser Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Eurasian Pygmy Owl, Meadow Pipit, House Sparrow and Firecrest. For the analysis of the physical features of a song, MPEG 7 standard audio descriptors were used.
