TL;DR: It seems that these lesions have comparable behaviors as in older women, and screening should be started in earlier, as there is increasing rate of younger women with high grade cervical lesion who may need treatment.
Abstract: Cervical cancer is a burning issue in our health sector. A project on cervical & breast cancer screening has been running already in Bangladesh. All sexually active women of 30-years and above or those who are married for 10 years or more are included in this project. But significant numbers of women, less than 30 years of age were referred to Colposcopy clinic for evaluation. They also had high grade lesion. The purpose of this study was to identify the need for cervical cancer screening programme in younger women who are less than 30 years old. This is a comparative retrospective study conducted in 30 years old women and less than 30 years old (21-29 years) women, who were attending Colposcopy clinic for evaluation & treatment in Khulna Medical College & Hospital (KMCH) from January 2013 to December 2013. We analysed 235 Colposcopies in 225 women (30 years old in Group-A; less than 30 years old in Group-B) who were attending at Colposcopy clinic in Khulna Medical College Hospital in 2013. Among group A (n=90), colposcopic findings were: normal-36 (40%), CIN I-30 (33.33%), CIN II-15 (16.67%), CIN III-2 (2.22%), invasive carcinoma-3 (3.33%). Among group B (n=135), colposcopic findings were: normal-52 (38.52%), CIN I-38 (28.14%), CIN II-26 (19.25%), CIN III-3 (2.22%), invasive carcinoma-2 (1.48%). There characteristics were analysed and compared with each other. Although cervical cancer is extremely rare at younger age, there is increasing rate of younger women with high grade cervical lesion who may need treatment. It seems that these lesions have comparable behaviors as in older women. Early age of marriage is responsible for developing cervical cancer & precancerous conditions. So screening should be started in earlier. Careful colposcopic assessment and evaluation before treatment remain indispensable in this regard. Mediscope Vol. 7, No. 2: July 2020, Page 82-88

TL;DR: Modern diagnostic tools of detecting gastric carcinoma as like detection of p21 oncogens and others are not available in this country, so, in conjunction with imprint cytology, it is possible to reach an accurate diagnosis.
Abstract: Radiological examination, endoscopy, cytology, biopsy and detection of p21 oncogens and others have resulted in the identification of early cases of gastric carcinoma. Among these, endoscopic biopsy is an important tool to detect gastric carcinoma. But some times, it can not give information due to inadequate and improper sampling. On the other hand, modern diagnostic tools of detecting gastric carcinoma as like detection of p21 oncogens and others are not available in our country. So, In conjunction with imprint cytology, it is possible to reach an accurate diagnosis. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bmjk.v46i1-2.18239 Bang Med J (Khulna) 2013; 46 : 34-36

TL;DR: A 25 years old male attended the skin & VD outpatient department of Khulna Medical College Hospital on 16th June, 2013 with complaints of multiple asymptomatic small rounded firm, cystic nodules that are adherent to the overlying skin of scortum, which showed the features of steatocystoma multiplex.
Abstract: A 25 years old male attended the skin & VD outpatient department of Khulna Medical College Hospital on 16th June, 2013 with complaints of multiple asymptomatic small rounded firm, cystic nodules that are adherent to the overlying skin of scortum. The microscopic examination of the cystic nodules showed the features of steatocystoma multiplex. This disorder, although it is asymptomatic, is a cosmetic threat to the patient. Only a few cases of the patients with an autosomal dominant mutation, who had keratin 17; have been reported. We are reporting here a case of steatocystoma multiplex of scortum in a 25 years old male along with review of literature. J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2015; 33(4): 218-221

TL;DR: This patient presented with the features of slow progression of weakness and wasting of limbs, involuntary muscle twitching & without sensory impairment, and no definitive treatment is yet to be discovered.
Abstract: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a group of genetically determined disorders affecting spinal and cranial motor neurons, characterized by proximal and distal wasting, fasciculation and weakness of muscles. This patient presented with the features of slow progression of weakness and wasting of limbs, involuntary muscle twitching & without sensory impairment. No definitive treatment is yet to be discovered. SMA in adulthood is very rare. Most cases are detected in childhood and adolescence period. Sooner the diagnosis can be done, better the prognostic value. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bmjk.v47i1-2.22560 Bang Med J (Khulna) 2014; 47 : 29-31

TL;DR: Hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidaemia are the identified modifiable risk factors associated with stroke.
Abstract: Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability and is the third commonest cause of death worldwide. It is a major cause of morbidity and mortality with disability and social dependence throughout the world. An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among purposively selected one hundred and seventy patients with stroke admitted at Kushtia Medical College Hospital, Kushtia from July 2014 to June 2015 to evaluate the different modifiable risk factors and their frequency among stroke patients. Stroke patients with more than 24 hours duration presenting within seven days of onset irrespective of age, sex and demographic profile were included in the study. After obtaining informed consent, patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were thoroughly evaluated for the presence of risk factors. Data were collected by investigators themselves. Out of 170 confirmed cases of stroke, 89 (52.35%) were male, while 81 (47.65%) were female. Mean age of the patients was 63.74 years with a standard deviation of 16.5 years. The highest incidence 43 (24.70%) of stroke was in the age group of 60 to 69 years. As many as 122 (71.76%) had ischaemic stroke, while 48 (28.24%) had haemorrhagic stroke. At least 119 (70.00%) cases were hypertensive. 41 (24.11%) cases had diabetes mellitus, 31 (18.23%) had hyperlipidaemia, 52 (30.6%) were smokers and 25 (14.70%) had past history of stroke. Among 81 female patients, 66 (81.48%) were in post-menopausal, whereas 15 (18.52%) were in the reproductive age group. Of them 5 (33.33%) had history of taking oral hormonal contraceptive. Hypertension, smoking, diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidaemia are the identified modifiable risk factors associated with stroke. Bang Med J (Khulna) 2015; 48 : 24-27
